Pitching wins championships?

PostSun Jan 10, 2016 3:29 am

I guess from just anecdotal observation it seemed to me that teams that can keep their e.r.a. close to 3 are generally successful. I thought I would look at records of teams that allow less than 600 runs. I looked at the tournament records for events 1 and 5 plus the semi-finals. There were 62 teams that allowed fewer than 600 runs--51 of them had records better than .500, 8 were worse than .500, and three were exactly .500. Also, with regard to league champions in leagues 1 and 5, 10 ( out of 18) of them allowed fewer than 600 runs.

So the question is whether this indicates a pitching strategy is generally more successful. Thoughts ?

It all depends on the ballpark....
Really value pitching in the pitchers parks.
Pitching in the power parks is not as important.
Since I NEVER play in hitters parks - I value pitching.
