Importance of good fielding shortstops

I play in a 4 man face to face league. I would have no problem playing a 3 shortstop if he hits the snot out of the ball. What is his e-rating? My strategy would be to pull him ASAP for defense. I know face to face is different than computer, but that would be my strategy.
Does anyone else play a face to face league.

I get to play in a face to face league about twice a year made up of long time friends from the 70's face to face we did in each other's homes. I used to have a Stadium Parking sign in my driveway when I was the home team.

Always had a preference for a 1 fielding SS in the face to face - but I have noticed in the online game even my 1e4 SS commits many more errors than I would expect.

In face to face you have more control to pull the 3 SS when you want and I always dreaded that error roll that say Error or Single - so I don't have good advice for you in the face to face preference. Thought I would just share some memories.
