After starting a game, how long does a relief eligible starter have to wait until he can pitch in relief at full strength? Thanks.

I havent been able to figure out a way to get a starter to relieve if they are eligible to do so unless i specifically give him a role in the pitching preferences. As for how long it is just as a normal starter would be. That is, if he is a * then its the 4th game after the start, if no * then its the 5th game.

Im not sure whether it matters if hal takes him out early because of a blow out but i dont think it does. Others can correct me if im wrong.

I may be wrong, but I didn't think HAL would use someone in relief if they were in the rotation.

Buchholz' relief appearance after starting shows he entered the game as an 'F0'...totally fatigued. He was not assigned to a role and came in to pitch only because HAL made the choice after running out of relievers. I'm guessing he would have entered as an 'F9', despite his previous start a game earlier, had he been assigned to a bullpen role that satisfied the situation.

This is an interesting theory. However, Bullpen v2 was written by Bernie when the online game was still on TSN. It is an overlay to the game that simply determines which reliever comes into the game when. I seriously doubt a reliever's fatigue level would be affected by whether or not a he has a bullpen role for any given situation.

Sandy Koufax came into pitch as a LH Specialist against your team, as you recall in your post above. Unlike Clay Buchholz, who was not assigned to a relief role, he entered as an F9 instead of an F0.

So, I'm guessing Koufax entered as an F9 either because:
1) The 60's set is programmed differently from the set that has Clay Buchholz. Perhaps, Koufax came in as an F9 because of custom code (or lack of custom code) and that same custom code doesn't (or does) exist for Buchholz.
2) Koufax was assigned to a relief role and Buchholz was not.
3) Koufax threw only 68 pitches in his previous start and HAL figured that an F9 entry point was appropriate based on number of pitches thrown in previous start.

My guess was #2. I imagine your guess is #1. You're probably right, based on the fact that Bullpen V2 only is used for 1990's and beyond.

1. He's a starter/reliever, rather than just a starter.
2. He was assigned a role as a LH specialist

Your wiki page you reference is nearly five years old and quite obsolete.

Before Bullpen V2, you didn't select roles. There were just a very few preassigned roles. Getting relievers to do what you wanted with the original bullpen settings was hopeless and frustrating. Bullpen v2 was (IMHO) the best improvement made to the online game, and I wouldn't play with any set of cards that used the original bullpen.

I will say this one last time (and this time without tact): A pitcher's fatigue rating has nothing to do with whether or not he has a role assigned. Choose to believe otherwise at your own peril.
