Strat-O-Matic Baseball 365

I used to play a lot of homer friendly places and I'd set IBB less to the majority of my staff, following the theory less base runners, less 3-run dingers. I'm wondering what the General Strategy forum thinks the right strategy is...

HR park: Starters, Relievers, Closer
Pitcher's Park: Starters, Relievers, Closer

I've always left it blank on closers and LHH or RHH relief specialists no matter what type of park I was in.

My strategy is to set Intentional Walk to Conservative for every team I have ever managed. Also, if I have a pitcher who walks a lot of hitters, I usually check his IBB less box.

I don't care about any other factors.

I cringe at the idea of HAL deciding for me the intentional walk.

I have a 70s mystery card league team. Mickey Rivers is 2nd only to Willie Stargell in IBB received, and is ahead of Dave Parker, Tony Perez, Pete Rose, and everyone else in the league. So, maybe ol' Mick (he ALWAYS struck me as old, the way he walked to the plate), had a great year and I batted him in front of soome stiffs? NOooooo. Batting behind him: Ted Simmons (after 126 games, 30 HR, .281 BA), Al Oliver (.849 OPS, .316 BA, 17 HR) and Ron Santo (16 HR, .290).

I might have gotten the best available Mickey Rivers card, but to walk him and possibly get the SB, to set the table for Ted Simmons in his prime seems....questionable.

Mickey Rivers received 20 intentional walks in his career, never more than five in one season. HAL certainly must know this

HAL seems to walk a player with plus clutch in any clutch situation, regardless of who is batting next

I use similar settings as coyote. If I have an SP that's unbalanced I won't check IBB less

Just got a flash: if you go with a conservative IIB setting, you maybe reduce the chance to benefit from the pitch-around option, because on the cd, you enact the pitch around option by clicking the IIB option. Would be cool if someone could show if they are related or not.

I check "IBB less" on all my starters, figuring that's not the time to put runners on base, and my stud relievers, who I'd rather take my chances with. On lesser RPs, I let HAL decide.

It would be interesting to know if there's a correlation between the 'pitch around' and "IBB less' that Marcus suggests and might change my thinking.

I also set it to conservative because whenever my pitchers IBB it usually always comes back to bite me. But, when my opponent intentionally walks my batters it always kills my rallys.

BTW, nobody would see the benefits of "pitch-around". It takes away homeruns into singles, and strikeouts for walks, but nothing that can be detected for the naked eyes.

On the long run, though, those being conservative would allow more 2-run 3-run homeruns than those being aggressive, if both options are linked together.
