Really good card with a 4 Injury rating ...

...what do you do? In a 90's mystery league I have Harold Baines with his 1993 card.

I would keep him. Of course, I'd only play him against right-handers.

You'll need an economical backup. And if you should clinch a playoff spot, be sure to rest him for the rest of the regular season. If you're playing him in the field, then set him to be removed for a defensive substitute.

There is another reason to keep Baines that I forgot to mention. Let's say he gets a 10-game injury. Since he's a platoon player, he probably would not be starting anyway for two or three games during that span. Thus, long injuries are a bit less of a problem than they would be for an everyday player. This works out even better for a left-handed hitting, high-injury platoon player.

Agree with coyote, keep him. I've had high inj risk players that never were injured, but a solid low price back up that has other value would be a good play IMO.

..thanks to everyone for their input. I think for the production and price I will keep him and platoon him at DH...and hope for no long term injuries if I do make the playoffs.

While that may be true, It is generally true for all leagues. I've found that L pitchers almost always account for around 33% of all pitchers. Of course some leagues may approach %40 (unusually high) or be in the 25-30% range but generally speaking %33 is normal.

You can also figure out the injury rating depending where the hitter's injury is:

on a 3 or 11 = injury rating 2
on a 4 or 10 = injury rating 3
on a 5 or 9 = injury rating 4
on a 6 or 8 = injury rating 5
on a 7 = injury rating 6

on a 2 or 12 = injury rating 1, but there are different types of injury rating 1s depending on AB+BB for hitters and IP for pitchers.
