Roster Value and Championships

My instinct leads me to keep as much roster value as possible, and in the five leagues I've played I've seen only one team win a championship with less than a $75 million roster in an $80 million league (they finished with a $70 million roster). I'm curious to know the lowest roster value GMs have ended with and still won a championship?

I believe your instinct is right. I want as much of my 80m, or whatever cap, to be my 8-9 starting hitters (or platoons) and my starting staff and top relievers.

That is a mystery league team where extensive playing dumping is part of the strategy. I'm sure there are many such examples in mystery sets. In 20XX or ATG $80M leagues it is hard to win championship with a depleted payroll. This is probably my lowest at $75.4, came back from 27-38 to win the title.

Thanks for sharing, guys. That $68 million winner is just crazy. They switched out 64 players during the season and the final roster makeup doesn't look exceptional. A lot of power in the lineup, but they were only third in runs scored and seventh in runs allowed. I'd love to have seen how it all added up to 99 wins and a championship!
