Why won't HAL PH for me?

PostSat Feb 25, 2017 9:34 am

I have Gates Brown set to avoid LH and a host of great RH PH options on the bench. Several times late in games HAL will bring in a LH Specialist to pitch to Brown and, leave him in to strike out.

What do I have to do?

Accept that this is part of the price for running a strict platoon, and weigh the pros and cons.

In addition to what Steve said, the avoid LHP option has no effect on a player already in the game.

Yes, I wish Avoid had a little more explanation to go along with it. (It probably does in the Rules section, but hey, who reads that?)Avoid in that instance means HAL, when looking for a pinch hitter, HAL won't select Gates Brown to face a LHP if he's looking for a pinch hitter. It has no effect if a player is already in the game. I NEVER use the Avoid vs RHP or LHP for hiiiters. (I use it for some RPs, but again, it is only in effect when entering the game. Once your RP is in the game, it is not used. That's why your LOOGY sometimes stays in against a RH Lefty-mashing hitter.)
