HAL shifting defense on his own

PostWed Sep 18, 2019 11:24 pm

Kaline is a 1 in RF, a 2 in CF. Given the way the season has been (60s) I thought my best option would be to move him to CF. In the late innings HAL shifts him to RF and moves a 3 to CF.

Anything I can do? Should I just pick up a 1 utility CF so he gets in there instead of the 3?

I wonder what would happen if you set Kaline as a defensive sub in CF? Maybe HAL would leave him there? It's worth a shot.

I had same issue with Hank Aaron 1 in RF 2 in Cf with Sosa a 3/3 in right- Supposedly the 1 in RF and 3 in CF is slightly better than a 2 in CF and a 3 in RF- but yes HAL was unrelenting

I am having the same issue in the 2018 set. I have Stanton in RF (3 and a 4 in LF) Kepler in CF (2 and a 2 in RF) and a platoon of 4
4 outfielders in LF). I have Dyson who is a 1 in LF, CF, Rf. I set defense to replace my 4 outfielders in LF, but HAL moves Stanton to LF, Kepler to RF and puts Dyson in CF. I have a theory as to why. Those positions, LF for Staunton, RF for Kepler and CF for Dyson are their primary positions respectively. I am going to try the Kepler to CF fix.

Having a rehashed issue, where a sub came in for defense and got pour in rf switching the player in rf to left. They both have bad range, but I guess the bench player has s better arm? Just I prefer to keep got replaced by defensive sub Is there any way to address this?..

This session has been a disaster with fat fingering the wrong stadium and bad luck to feel like there's a point to continuing.

HAL will put the stronger arm in rightfield instead of leftfield, all other things being equal.

Here's why: A runner on 1st trying to advance to third on a single gets a +2 added to their chances on singles to rightfield. The get a -2 for singles to leftfield.

There are games where HAL saw the logic in what I had ordered and games where he did not:

Recently I have had games where HAL shuffles my defense for no apparent reason. Nobody gets subbed in or injured, they just move around. Here is an example, see the top of the 3rd.

Crawford's 4e14 at first is slightly better than Greenberg's 3e24 for getting outs. Cobb is a 2(0)e12 in CF Crawford is a 2(+1)e7, Greenberg a 2(0)e6 in RF.

Looks close to a wash to me, but I like my line up better.
