I am still confused about fatigue. Which setting pulls a pitcher faster?? F5 or. F8? Thanks

A rested pitcher is at F9. A tiring pitcher begins tiring when he's at F8. So F5 is more fatigued.

If you USE the Don't Relieve before F8, he will be left in (in most instances) until he lowers to F8 fatigue.
If you set it to Don't Relieve Before F5, then (in most instances) he will pitch through the descending levels of F8, F7, and F6 before he'd be pulled. Also, once a pitcher hits F8, the fall in fatigue is usually pretty precipitous...…..

Best setting for 90 percent of pitchers is none--leave it blank. Only use a setting (and then I prefer F8) for your best pitchers.

I usually only use Don't Relieve Before F8 with a stud starter. Sometimes if he's a second tier stud SP, I'll also use the Quick Hook, believing that HAL will stick with my stud starter until he begins to tire, then he'll pull him QUICKLY. If there aren't a lot of options in my pen, I don't use the Quick Hook.

Other than that I don't use the setting at all for other SPs.

I'm a rookie here. I have 2 stud S7* pitchers who typically come out around 7 innings when they're pitching great. They are a little better than my best reliever. I hadn't paid much attention to this yet, but I'm going to start using the Don't Relieve Before F8 setting for these 2. Does this make sense to others?

Yes. Sometimes I mark a Quick Hook to go along with the F8, thinking that once the SP starts to tire, it usually happens fairly quickly. This way once he begins to tire, HAL will hopefully pull him.

Thanks for the response. A further question. I'm trying to get 8 or 9 innings out of my stellar S7* starters as long as they haven't been fatigued. Does the quick hook setup ever result in the starter being pulled after say 5 or 6 innings before having a fatigue reduction. In other words, it seems that Quick Hook and don't pull before F8 could be conflicting instructions for HAL to navigate. What has been your experience with this? Does HAL prioritize the F8 setting and use Quick Hook only after F8 has happened? Thx.

He could get a Quick hook only after becoming slightly fatigued (F8). However, a pitcher could come out of the game earlier than you'd like due to a pinch hitter (non-DH league), but, not because he was set to F8/quick hook.
