Do Not Steal - help

I need help understanding how Do Not Steal works. I have Rusty Staub on one team. He is set to Do Not Steal. The guy behind him in my lineup is set to Do Not Hit&Run. Rusty hits a single in the 6th inning of a game tied 2-2. He then proceeds to steal but is caught stealing.
Did HAL override my 'Do Not Steal' suggestion because we were tied in the 6th and a "D" stealing player was a better opportunity than my next hitter?

I'll copy this topic to the General Strategy forum. That will double your chances of getting an answer.

The batter behind Staub could have tried to bunt and missed the pitch also--both bunt and hit and run missed pitches will override "do not steal" settings.

Unless I'm mistaken, missed pitches on a bunt result in a 2-strike count and then a strikeout if it happens twice. Don't think there's a way to get caught stealing off the bunt chart.
Only possibility I can think of to explain OP is some kind of rare play?

Maybe I was thinking of a 1-2 on a suicide squeeze play--but that doesn't make too much sense here, unless a runner was on third.

Review of the wikipedia help page indicates this unexpected result might be caused by a minor bug.

On one team I had the Steal setting for the team on Conservative, Cecil Cooper a B13 runner set to Do Not Steal, and his one steal attempt of the season was an out trying to steal home against a decent catcher. I looked back at that one in the play-by-play and couldn't figure out an explanation for HAL on that one.

If you're out trying to steal home, it's (99.9% of the time) because of a botched squeeze play where the batter misses the pitch.
