How to improve pinch hitting for a SS-1

In ATG I often draft a SS-1 for cheap which means no offensive production. Even when I have another SS-1 on the bench, I can't seem to get HAL to pinch hit for my starting SS even if bases loaded and my SS has an OBP < .300 and my bench is loaded with high OBP and power guys, and pinch hitters set in the team strategy.

Has anyone figured out how to get them pinch hit for in these scenarios?

I think this is an issue we’d have to accept….. I understand the idea behind it but I feel like this would lead to them pinch hitting in the wrong spots with the wrong guys and just leading to more issues altogether
