There now are 7 votes for a live draft, which based on the above discussion and practical considerations will need to be done on these boards. There wasn't a specific number of rounds listed, but for numerous reasons it isn't practical to do all 25 picks (too long, roster requirements, salary cap, etc.). We also don't want the live draft to take forever -- hopefully, everyone can check in at least a couple times a day. I agree there shouldn't be a time limit on picks at least for the early rounds, but maybe after round 5? you might need to make your pick within 24 hours or you would be skipped (you can make your missed pick as soon as you get back on the board). I suggest/vote that we do 10 rounds on these boards, but everyone else is free to suggest/vote too. Hopefully we can complete 10 rounds in less than a week.

I would vote for 15 picks and 12 hour rule. Draft is the most enjoyable part of game. You can choose to draft a park and reveal it to everyone in draft or not. We should have a mechanism whereby the person who makes a pick is responsible to email the manager whom follows that it is his turn. That will reduce length of draft.

I abstain on first round of voting. On the number of rounds for draft, I vote for 15.

12 rounds for the draft. Whatever number of rounds is decided upon it should be an even number. An odd number of rounds would give an added advantage to those with the highest seeds. As for the time limit. It is my opinion that it would be unfair to impose a time limit. Some managers have made it known that a live draft will be difficult for them. Since a live draft was not part of the tournament they signed up for, penalizing them for not being able to comply would be wrong. The draft will simply take as long as it takes. For those of us who prefer a live draft, we asked for it and we need to be patient with those who didn't.

It's the 80s! Definitely my least favorite set. The other rules are 80 mil, DH, any stadium, seeded divisions and live draft on the message board. So, except for the details of the message board draft, all the rules are set.

The message board draft should be an even number of rounds and serpentine order.

In the spirit of brainstorming, let me throw out a suggestion for the message board draft. That we set a particular number of days and end the draft at the end of that time period. For example, let's say 10 days. So, let's say that 10 days after the start of the draft, we are in the middle of round 7 - we finish up round 8 and the draft is over. Or let's say that after 10 days we are halfway through round 1 - we finish up round 2 and the draft is over.

I am concerned that the draft will drag on too long.

How hard is it to look at the web? I know some of us are old but ....Anyway I guess the votes for 15 rounds will be reduced to 14 to be even number as suggested.

It must be pretty hard because it took 10 days to get 11 votes in this thread. If we draft at the same rate (which seems to me a reasonable possibility), then a 14 round draft would take 14 x 12 x 10/11 = 731 days = 2.00 years.

For the sake of the draft not taking forever. I'd say 10 at most.
