2021 Mystery Tournament - Final 12 Voting

Definitely didn’t want to cause a stir.

I would never want to sway a vote, my only thought was to promote the tournament.

I am cool with whatever ... whenever ... however

A couple comments.

Thanks to JimmyJames for promoting the Mystery format game - we need interest in the game to keep it going.

I think that all 12 finalists should have an equal say and we are lucky to have a great commissioner as the ultimate authority. The vote for this year's finals is the customary vote that the Tournament has been having for many years. The vote on live draft vs autodraft is not yet decided, but if live draft wins then that vote should be honored. Any of us could say we won't play if this rule or that rule is voted for; but that shouldn't determine the rules for the majority. If a finals qualifier wants to withdraw then the next highest ranked player would be offered a spot in the finals. That seems fair to me.

Agreed Franky. I didn't like the 2000s being used but played. I hate pitchers hitting because HAL doesn't have a clue, and I don't want to be in a league with most, if not all, of the finalists because it's unfair to me to have to go up against great managers but I'm still here.

I have a full time job, work a freelance writing gig to supplement my income, and have a ton of responsibilities at home, but I'm willing to make time for a Live Draft since I know that's the fairest way to set teams for the Championship round. I've lost leagues and won a few others in Mystery Card games just by the luck of the Autodraft and the only way to avoid that is with a serpentine Live Draft

AND this change of vote crap is even more bogus. ALL of these "things" are important.....or we would not be voting on them. To me the league means little, the way we draft it......most important thing we are voting on because the live strategy is completely different than auto draft

it is not LUCK on the autodraft, it is how the game was been for what 20+years? Live draft just started recently in strat, and it is NOT any kind of device to make anything even since most of us DO NOT have time to just sit around and watch people be trolls for two days making their picks as late as possible

You want live, fine......90 second to 2 min picks. WE all know these sets backwards and forwards, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD< none of these week long drafts waiting hours for someone to make a damn pick. 90 seconds, this is done in 60 minutes. 2 min picks, this is done in 90 minutes........2-12 hour picks, this takes a week

Couple of quick facts, Mastermosser:

I was also the one who asked about changing vote.... which will probably hurt me because I DON’T know the set like the back of my hand like you do. I only started playing a little over a year ago. Last years Tournament was my first time playing ANY mystery set. Ask Jimmy C, he showed me thread to figure out injuries while beating the heck out of me

AGAIN only reason I would even asked is so I can better promote tournament on the Radio Show... nothing more.... no tournament agenda in any way.... and perfectly fine if my original vote stands.

Two other quick things, I bet you would have your prize if you put same investment into emailing Strat.... as investment in this thread... I have never had any issues.

AND hilarious that the same person talking complaining about early voting is same person complaining about time to play.... I think we all know that it is ONLY to facilitate a quicker start. Nothing I see as Bogus, Ted.

And even if no live Stream of Draft on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube .... Radio Show will definitely have an episode devoted to any type of draft we vote for

It was going to take a lot of work (and possibly some new software = $) on my part to even make it happen.

I feel I have to defend myself here, as I was the one who initiated the voting to begin as the commissioner of the tournament. I am volunteering my time to try and make a smooth tournament just because I want to participate in it just like all of you. I have to make decisions that people disagree with some times. In this case I started the voting because I wanted to minimize the time between confirming the 12 teams and starting the finals league. We've been at this for 7 months, I just was trying to move it along. I agree mastermosser56, I made a mistake with this - in hindsight I should have waited until the 12 teams were comfirmed. However, your anger and accusatory tone is pretty disappointing. It's reactions like that which make people like me not want to bother doing what I do to make tournaments like this even possible.

I think it was a good idea to start the voting in advance. Last year we started the voting before the final spots were determined and we started the live draft before the final spots were determined and it worked out fine.

Last year some of the votes were for both full live draft or partial live draft because one way or another a live draft was preferred. Partial would be fine as an appeasement.

Of course we may not even have a live draft anyway.

Tonight we'll find out the last two managers in the finals as both semi-final world series went to Game 7. I don't know what the rankings were before the semi-finals but MoodyMets must have come from way back because even after a 92 win season they still must win Game 7 to make the Finals. Two time Finals champ pushpin would make the finals either with a win tonight (which will be difficult since Giambi is out with an injury) or with a loss by mburatti in League 2. If pushpin wins, I wouldn't be surprised by a vote for the 70s or 80s because both his Tournament wins featured '78 Guidry. In League 2, it's JimmyC's Tourneyzillas vs mburatti's Mysterions. There was a mix up with all the syringes in the Mysterion's locker room and testosterone has proven ineffective against covid as 3 of Mysterion's players including Barry Bonds can't take the field in Game 7. mburatti can make the Finals with either a win or a loss by Moodymets. Let's get the Finals started!!
