Round 1 Impressive Performances Thread

PostFri Feb 12, 2016 1:54 am

So, we're 1/3 of the way through the first round, and I'm sure there are some impressive numbers to be shared out there. Here are a few from League 1:

-- Joe Torre, Greynold Park Hippies (manager: ScumbyJr.): leading the league in BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS... .402/.448/.652/1.100. And remember, Torre incredible 1970 season where he hit .363 isn't even available in the 60s, just the 70s set.
-- And in 2nd place in both SLG and OPS (.618/1.014) is someone who we would all expect to be among the league leaders in those categories... Dick McAuliffe (?!?!) of the Lunar Rovers X (manager: Barkeeper47S)
-- Leading the league in ERA is another Lunar Rover X player, and yet another odd name to see there: "Sudden" Sam McDowell, with a 1.73 ERA, and also leading the league in strikeouts (130) and tied for the lead in wins with 9. The Lunar Rovers X are a league-best 34-20.
-- And lastly, since it's only fair that I also jinx myself... Joe Hoerner of my very own Woodstock HipHippieHooray is a perfect 17-for-17 in save opportunities.

League #2 - I've got a candidate for surprise 2nd place in OPS.

First, Roger Maris has 20 homers, avg. .327, slug .718, ops 1.126 for the Symrna Stinky Pete's (markyura).

In second in OPS is.........the Jonesboro Arkinals (divad) Tim McCarver of course. 11 doubles, 13 homers, and avg. of .367!!

The top 3 pitchers in ERA are all from one team, the Green Valley Godwits (joeedrott) and they are Pedro Ramos (1.23), Sammy Ellis (1.47), and Billy Pierce (1.91).

This isn't my guy, but he is the really crushing the ball.

C Tom Haller, with 13 doubles, 16 homers, .340/.447/.800 for an OPS of 1.247. Through 140 ABs and 25 BBS.

Tom Haller!!??!! And he hasn't been injured yet.

Marcelino Lopez has given up just 1 earned run in 27.2 innings for my Memphis Redeemers in League 7 as both a starter and a reliever. His ERA is 0.33. Oddly, his record is 0-1.

The Hoerner Watch continues: he's 25-for-25. That's 25 saves out of 42 team wins. And my team isnt even in first place.

Feel free to keep the impressive performances coming from either round. I will try to find some later today from around the leagues.

Turk Farrell of my Haight Ashbury Hippies II started the season with three consecutive shutouts. His scoreless streak got to 28 innings when he gave up a run on a DP. He went 7 innings in that game and that's the only run he gave up.

So 1 ER across 34 innings, 3 SHO.
