A word regarding communication protocols,passwords & closers

I am actually not the world's best communicator or organizer. I am more of an absent minded professor by nature. (We all know how good absent minded professors are at communicating and organizing). Ahem.

I am a public accountant by daytime, and I need to keep my real life emails as clean as possible. As such, I have tried to keep my work emails clear of strat stuff to the greatest extent possible.

Therefore, as is my custom with strat tourneys where I am the commissioner, I will communicate exclusively through messages on these mystery tournament discussion forum boards (my first choice by far), or by private messages (where necessary). But not real life emails please.

Because I am working into the wee hours of the morning on tax returns and other tax work, I would like to avoid having to use PM's to communicate passwords. I will use passwords, but I would rather just post them on the threads on these boards. Each event/league will have a separate thread on these mystery tourney boards, as in prior years.

I know a lot of you have a strong preference for closers being assigned to leagues. I am OK with this, and I will assign them myself from within the randomly selected managers in each league. This year I will appoint 2 closers for each league. This is to avoid (as much as possible) the problem of someone inappropriately joining (and thereby filling) a league, with the unfair (and disruptive) result of shutting the closer out of the league that he is supposed to be closing. Closers will be notified by PM to close the league.

Even though there is a January 19 deadline for event 1 (and the tourney), I would prefer to have leagues close out by Tuesday or Wednesday wherever possible. This means that I would like you to get your teams in by Sunday or Monday (i.e. well before the deadline) so that there isn't a last minute scramble to get leagues organized. This will make the job of being a commissioner so much less complicated, and will cut down my hours considerably.

In view of the above, I will be assigning leagues well in advance. I will be doing the league assignments for event 1 tomorrow (January 6). Latecomers will be grouped in the later leagues. Leagues 1 through 11 will be randomly assigned, as of tomorrow.

As soon as possible after the leagues are assigned, please get your teams in STAT (not strat, STAT), please!

Make sure you enter the ***correct league***!

What this means for you:

1. Please check the message boards frequently - perhaps twice a day when an event is launching (e.g. the week before January 19, the deadline for event 1 and the tourney).

2. Ditto, check your PM's frequently. This means you must be actively logged in on this discussion board screen - not just viewing it, but logged in - frequently, and at least twice a day in the lead up to an event deadline.

3. Enter your assigned leagues as soon as you can, and well before the deadline, but ***make sure*** you're entering the correct league.

4. Once you've entered the league, please post on the thread for that league, that you've entered your team. In fact, post regularly on that thread to message the others in your group (and for my benefit, and the closers' benefit) to let them know when you will be entering your team.

5. If you are a closer, post on the thread for your league, to check in, ant have your team ready to load when instructed to do so. Check the discussion boards and the PM's even more frequently.

6. After the league has filled (i.e. the 2 closers have entered their teams), and the autodraft has occurred, could someone please post a link to the league standings page on the discussion board thread. This is important for checking who actually filled the league afterwords, but it's nice to be able to "see" the league using that link, especially right after the leagues close and before the event starts.

7. Hopefully, if all of these systems get carried out properly, there won't be any "oopsies" that can't be fixed. However, be aware that, if there are "oopsies" that need to get fixed, I may have to get strat to reassign managers between leagues. So if you see something weird happen, it could be me fixing a problem as the commissioner. I hope this doesn't have to happen at all in this tourney! See above.

8. Just a reminder that there is no DH for event 1. Events 2 through 4 will use the DH.

9. I may obtain help from some who have volunteered. They have my delegated authority except where I have said otherwise.

10. Managers are expected to participate in all four events, without exception.

11. If you have travel plans, please let me know in advance. PM is OK for this purpose.

12. Inevitably, some fillers are required (and thanks to those that have volunteered). Fillers will not be in the same leagues as their own "live" teams. Unless I have said otherwise on these boards, a manager's filler team is the one that is in the higher numbered league (i.e. a manager's filler team will be in a league number that is a higher league numebr than his live team. (e.g. league 10 filler team, league 3 live team).

I'm sure I'll think of something else later (yeah, the absent minded professor), but that's it for now!

Enjoy!!!!!!
:)

Ahoy,

Hi all - looking forward to the new Mystery Season.

What does it mean to be actively logged in - not just viewing?

Ahoy,

Yes. I see my name when browsing the forum so I am logged in. Will keep an eye peeled for any messages as I have received messages in past leagues and am one of the closers for League 11 this tournet.

Thanks for the clarrification.

The earliest time that leagues can fill is Saturday January 14th. We want to have all of the leagues launch in the same week, so we can't completely load leagues prior to Saturday January 14th.

And bumping this thread for everyone to read please and thanks!
