Many have said that we don't know what we are getting when we nominate cards, so I've taken some time to put some stats together from some cards, using Diamond Dope and Veterans 1975 for the park, since it's kind of neutral (10,10,10,10). I asked Bill for his permission/blessing to do this. So I'll be posting some card add ideas, thoughts, etc to hopefully keep interest up and give folks some stuff to actually discuss on the boards.
Some players don't seem to translate as well to Strat, and I feel like Harmon Killebrew is one of them.
Below are the DD stats (vets75) from the current Killebrew cards:
1961 Killebrew 6.66m, E Balance, 1b-4e17 / 3b-5e40 / lf-5(+3)e12
LH--0 2b, 1.5 3b, 9.6 HR, 41 BB, 373/617/855, 1.467 OPS
RH--3 2b, 1.9 3b, 15 HR, 21 BB, 333/469/932, 1.401 OPS
Probably best current card, only usable at 1b
1965 Killebrew 3.89m, 2L Balance, 1b-4e16 / 3b-4e16 / lf-5(+2)e7
LH--2.4 2b, 1 3b, 8 HR, 34 BB, 378/586/773, 1.359 OPS
RH--3.6 2b, 0 3b, 10.4 HR, 14 BB, 285/391/664, 1.055 OPS
The 2 INJ card, usable at 1b & 3b
1969 Killebrew 6.77m, 1R Balance, 3b-4e35 / 1b-4e5
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 10.3 HR, 37 BB, 228/507/674, 1.174 OPS
RH--5.3 2b, 0.3 3b, 11.3 HR, 25 BB 298/473/786, 1.259 OPS
The Bulletproof card, usable at 1b, not so much at 3b
Here are a few other Killebrew cards to consider:
1959 Killebrew 7L Balance, 3b-4e32 / LF-4(+3) 16
LH--7.1 2b, 0 3b, 14.1 HR, 26 BB 506/639/1.132, 1.771 OPS
RH--1.7 2b, 0.3 3b, 10.5 HR, 20 BB 212/380/609, .989 OPS
This card would be a LHP masher as a 3b or DH...…Led League in HR
1960 Killebrew 2L Balance, 1b-4e20 / 3b-4e29
LH--0 2b, 0 3b, 10 HR, 36 BB, 399/599/815, 1.414 OPS
RH--3.3 2b, 0 3b, 9.8 HR, 17 BB 282/395/641, 1.036 OPS
At least usable at both 1b & 3b, 2 INJ
1964 Killebrew 2L Balance, LF-4(+1)e7
LH--0.2 2b, 0 3b, 14.5 HR, 29 BB 378/562/952, 1.514 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0 3b, 12.2 HR, 18 BB 299/435/720, 1.155 OPS
Maybe his best combined HR numbers against both sides. He's usable in LF, and with his '4" there, I feel like this card would be cheaper, but still provide nice offense. Led League in HR
I wish there was a card that inspired as much fear as the real Killebrew did in the 1960s, when he led the league in HR 6 times and RBI 3 times. Sadly, he's not used as often as he should be.
