Post War Infielders---IMPROVEMENT Edition

Many have said that we don't know what we are getting when we nominate cards, so I've taken some time to put some stats together from some cards, using Diamond Dope and Veterans 1975 for the park, since it's kind of neutral (10,10,10,10). I asked Bill for his permission/blessing to do this. So I'll be posting some card add ideas, thoughts, etc to hopefully keep interest up and give folks some stuff to actually discuss on the boards.

My Goals on IMPROVEMENTS:
1--Provide a card that is more representative of a player's career than their current card(s)
2--Provide a card that is fundamentally different than their current cards

Obviously, the 1962 card is better than 1961. The guy who the Yankees traded for Maris. 7th in MVP Voting in 62.

When you look at the current card we have compared to the 62 card, is 1962 THAT much better than 1960? That said, the A's Post are weak and could use another card. With improvements, I'm usually thinking of a player who is poorly represented or a card that is fundamentally different in some way from his current card. 1962 Siebern doesn't fit those parameters, but if he was added it wouldn't be a big deal......

I really like the '62 Richardson. A huge

I would much prefer the 61 Stuart to the '59 Stuart and have wanted that card for a long time. I've also wanted the '62 Seiburn, a great addition.

I crunched the numbers on those two, Bruce. I’ll post when I get back around a computer. His defensive numbers in 1961 make usable only as DH. And if memory serves, offense was better with the 1959 card.

But what about the injuries, lots more plate appears in '61 (576?) vs low 400's in '59 and has natural hr's on 1-8 and 1-9 vs righties in '61 Too many guys like him already mash lefties. I also prefer his 1B 5 card - he may have been the worst fielder ever, more representative of his actual "skills."

Also desperately want the '69 Mike Epstein. When SOM offered the online 1969 season, his card was "Super Jew." Had an epic season for that year.

Finally, the '64 Mantilla. Plays five positions and hit 30 hrs in 400 ab's. https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/37496/1660/1/60

I’ll post the 61 Stuart. I probably ran from him because of his defense. These threads are just for our information before we actually make picks/nominations and end up with cards we thought we wanted, but sometimes disappoint.

I don’t think there’s a lot of difference offensively between the two. Depends on if you want a card with a 15 game injury chance (1959) or a card that is only playable at DH.
