Where's the LOVE for Soriano- at 2b also
Same def rating
Better Injury rating and MUCH better than current card-
offense makes him very usable even at higher caps.

I spend a good little bit of my time running each card nomination through DiamondDope (Veterans 1975 10-10-10-10) to see how the cards actually play.
This information can be found at 24.1 STRAT STATS FOR NOMINATIONS, the thread just below the voting thread, or at the following link:

I have anecdotal evidence that this resource is not being used by everyone.
So go check it out! 8-)

Thanks very much as always for all of that effort Andy.

I would suggest though that a Veteran's Stadium only comparison does not tell the whole story for some cards. The Lou Whitaker 8R card has more benefit in a small-ball park than in Veterans, for example. I wouldn't use it playing in Veterans, but in Forbes '65 I'd have to give it a shot at lower caps.

Re Soriano, I don't think the comparison to his current card is really valid, as he's a left fielder in one, plays 2B in the other. I like the Soriano 2b card and voted for it. I'll use a 3 at 2b, if I get enough pop, or OBP to warrant it.

I use Vets 75 because it's closest to middle ground. (actually it is middle ground on the ratings)

OBP is good, but '93 Whitaker has a Running Rating of 12.

Thanks big time, Andy and Bill, for putting this together! Truly appreciated.

Interesting there's big love for Gene Tenace (33 votes) vs. Ivan Rodriguez (8 votes, lowest of all), at this time I write. These are cards for particular seasons, not a referendum on career. But ... what does this tell us?

Thanks Hack.

I think it tells us that a lot of voters are paying attention to Andy's 'Strat Stats'. The Rodriguez card just isn't that good, especially compared to his other cards. Tenace gets a better card and also one that helps a different franchise (SD). I think the voters do a pretty good job for the most part.

That of the FIVE IRod cards listed in the nineties set, that one is the worst?

Fury Gene Tenace...how can you not vote for a name like that! Plus I loved watching Gene play when I was growing up. I also spent a lot of time attending and listening to Padre games.

Yes, this is exactly the point on both counts
his current card is nothing like this one-
AND it has enough pop to warrant using a 3 at 2b sometimes.

ALSO- yes, do look at the ratings- even though Vet 10 doesn't tell the whole story, you at least get a, forgive the pun, ballpark idea of what the card can do.
