Besides Harvey, Ryan & Weaver, Angels pitchers could include:

1969 Andy Messersmith 16-11, 2 saves 2.52/1.076 (similar to but probably better than the '74 card)
1995 Bob Patterson 5-2 3.04/1.144 (probably a 5L for this LH reliever)
1996 Troy Percival 0-2, 36 saves 2.31/.0932 (4L for RH reliever, no BP singles -- no singles at all)
1975 Frank Tanana 16-9 2.62/1.104
1977 Frank Tanana 15-9 2.54/1.086 (the '75 card -- 2L -- is pretty nice but either would be a nice addition)
1969 Ken Tatum 7-2, 22 saves 1.36/1.042 (probably a 2R, 4th in ROY, 4.3 WAR, 2.56 ERA+ not bad in '69)
1986 Mike Witt 18-10 2.84/1.082 (better than the cards we have, 1L)
2008 Jose Arredondo 10-2 1.62/1.049 (RHP, 5L, no BP singles v L, no HR anywhere)
1962 Art Fowler 4-3, 5 saves 2.81/1.195 (RHP, 4L)
2014 Kevin Jepsen 0-2, 2 saves 2.63/1.046 (RHP, 4R, R1)
1961 Tom Morgan 8-2, 10 saves 2.36/0.993 (RHP, 2L, no BP sing vers L, much better card than what we have)
2008 Darren Oliver 7-1 2.88/1.153 (LHP, R2, E, no BP sing ver L)
2006 Francisco Rodriguez 2-3, 47 saves 1.73/1.096 (not the record save season but the better one, 263 ERA+)
2003 Scot Shields 5-6, 1 save 2.85/1.187 (S/R no*, much better than what we have)
2002 Jarrod Washburn 18-6 3.15/1.175 (4th in Cy voting, important Angel)

I doubt 72 Ryan would get used, compared to his other cards

Not sure I agree with that, but how about the 1981 Ryan card?

1.69 era, 1.12 whip, 2 HRs allowed in 149 innings...

Ryan played for Houston in 1981, so that year would not be eligible for an Angels addition. Analytically 1981 was his lowest fielding independent pitching stat year, so maybe that would turn out to be a good card

81 IS the best Ryan card. As for Angel years, I'm not looking at the cards right now but back in the day I know I used the 73 card way more than the 72

If we think FIP is a good indicator of card value then let's nominate Andy Messersmith 1972. That year he had an all time Angels FIP best (2.35), which was his career best by a mile, and it led the league. Overall in 1972 he had a 1.14 whip and a 2.81 era, which in that year was not special, but maybe the FIP tells the whole story

Good card vetting. As a group please give me your 5 with 2 alternates by Thursday @ 5pm PT so we can get the voting underway.

My top choices for the Angels would be...

1981 Bobby Grich
1987 Wally Joyner
