Led the league in RBI, and was in the AL top 10 in about a dozen offensive categories. Easily Harrelson's best season, in the year of the pitcher. Right, Salty. As just a "ballpark" example, a card from the crazy offensive 1930 season or from the 1968 Year of the Pitcher is a product of its context. In ATG, we take them OUT of their original context, meaning that a 1930 card or 1968 card may play differently than what a cursory reading of the player's Baseball-Reference page may suggest.

The more I play, the more I see the potential value of particular pieces currently in short supply in the card box. To wit:
    Lefty-hitting catchers
    Moderate-reverse slant SP, especially lefties
    Hard-reverse slant RP
    Lefty hitting CF (although this is starting to be fulfilled)
    Middle infielders slanted to the R

And since I play the $80M format, the budget versions of same are especially prized.

When voting, I favor the criteria above and faces that would be new in the box. I care nothing about franchise depth.

The 24.1 ballot might be the weakest I've seen since I started playing. Reaching saturation? Maybe.

No question that Jeff Reed is the thing not like the others on the ballot.

But as a low-priced, lefty hitting platoon catcher with some pop, would Jeff Reed add value to the set and be rostered frequently?

I think we're long overdue for a better Harrleson card. Lots of right on right power for lower cap leagues. Too many DPs, but he will still get used.

Re the franchise depth comment, many of us do care. And there are still plenty of players who had decent (or better) big league careers with no card in the set.
