17.3 Player Add - Player results

Thank you all for your patience. Based on all the input, posts and a little of my own research I have put together 4 groups of players to vote on for this 17.3 card add. I'll detail out the voting process here and then create the polls. I realize having multiple polls can be cumbersome but with the divergent card interest I just didn't see any other way.

OK so here's what's up...
1. We have the 2008+ Tampa Bay Rays that will represent 25 cards

2. Based on our 17.3 card parameters and the 17.2 voting we will be automatically including the following players in this add...
Barry Zito 2002, SP Cy Young Award, 23-5, 1.13whip, 15yrs OAK
Jeff Russell 1989, RP 0.95whip 38sv, CY-9th, 14yrs TEX
Eric Young 1996, 2B 324/393/421/814, Silver Slugger, 53sb 15yrs COL
Roger Metzger 1973 SS 622OPS 1e14, 14 triples, 11yrs HOU

3. So that leaves us with 21 spots, which will be broken out like this...number in (#) is total players in vote.
3a) 5 Starting Pitchers (29), parameters: 0 cards in ATG and more than 10yrs in MLB
3b) 3 Relief Pitchers (16), parameters: 0 cards* in ATG and more than 8yrs in MLB
*one player included that does have 1 ATG card, Doug Henry, but his current card is under $1mil
3c) 6 3B/SS/2B/C (28), parameters: 0 cards* in ATG and more than 9yrs in MLB
*two players included that have 1 ATG card; Jackie Hayes (.53) and Heine Zimmerman (.97), again under $1mil
3d) 5 'Stud' players (25), parameters: Batters greater than or near 1.000 OPS, Pitchers sub 1.00 whip.
You will see missing Bonds, Sosa, Mantle seasons...on this list. While I still feel there are many Zero carded players to add I heard the interest in some of the missing historic seasons. So we vote.

Yes for those of you doing the math that leaves 2 spots left to make up the 2nd 25. We will use those last two spots to accommodate any ties or have a run off between players across groups.

One other note, there are a few epic pre1900 seasons not included in this round of voting. I've been upfront prior that I'm not an advocate for adding those seasons until we attack the holes we have post 1900, which are numerous. So realistically if you're a fan of pre1900 players and some of the seasons they put together, we won't be including them in any votes for at least 3 yrs, that is if I'm still heading this process up.

I'll have the polls up by the end of the day pacific time, so be on the look out.
tks!
Rosie

I'm excited to announce our class of 17.3!
Starting Pitchers:
1. Barry* Zito, 2002 OAK, by virtue of 17.2 vote
2. Tim Hudson, 2003 OAK, 30 votes
3. Derek Lowe, 2002 BOS, 29
4. Jason Schmidt, 2003 GIA, 29
5. Craig Swan, 1978 NYM, 27
6. Mike Norris, 1980 OAK, 27

Relievers:
7. Jeff Russell, 1989 TEX, by virtue of 17.2 vote
8. Octavio Dotel, 2002 HOU, 40 votes
9. Wade Davis, 2015 KC, 39
10. Armando Benitez, 2004 FLA, 30 (tie breaker vs Rob Murphy 15yrs vs 11)

2B/SS/3B/C:
In my original plan I stated 6 additional players from this group would be voted in and then in the poll stated 5. So we'll be adding my original statement of 6 for a total of 8.
11. Eric Young, 1996 COL 2B, by virtue of 17.2 vote
12. Roger Metzger, 1973 HOU SS, by virtue of 17.2 vote
13. Todd Hundley, 1996 NYM C, 36 votes
14. Rafael Furcal, 2005 BRV SS, 30
15. Mike Lowell, 2007 BOS 3B, 28
16. Ray Durham, 1998 CHW 2B, 26
17. Fernando Tatis, 1999 STL 3B, 24
18. AJ Pierzynski, 2012 CHW C, 21 (tie breaker vs Bill Mueller 19yrs vs 11)

Studs, or close to Studs or perceived Studs or maybe not as Studley as one thought...
19. Johnny Mize, 1947 NYG 1B, 31 votes
20. Mickey Mantle, 1957 NYY CF, 31
21. Sammy Sosa, 2001 CHC RF, 31
22. Barry Bonds, 2004 SF LF, 30
23. Kenley Jansen, 2016 DOD RP, 29

Run off
24. Rob Murphy, 1986 CIN RP
25. Robinson Cano, 2012 NYY 2B

Cheers and thanks for all the input, feedback and interest!

Okay---

Id love for you to add Cano to this poll-- he probably should've been in the 2b category to begin with, and we have gotten zero impact 2Bs or SS in this or the last group of players.

IF we were to keep the 7 people in the open spots then Id say in all honesty there are really only 2 studs in there right now;

Heilmann and prolly Sisler. (not seeing those cards makes it tough to judge, but both the Vaughn and Kemp card which is a bit better but still not studly- Ive played it in the 07-14 set, and really not a great card- weve also gotten a bunch of RPs and SPs now).

I tell you what Salty, if you take point on the high end card ambassadorship I'll extend the run off poll to include Cano and then we can just let the votes dictate...that also means Hidalgo is along for the ride too. You in?

How can I say no?
OH yeah, there are reasons (you aren't the cause), but I will do my best to be involved with it- and if I'm not crazy busy, yes will even take point.
(all this for Cano, and the Xerox machine managers will probably be snagging him before I get a chance  )

Just short of a commitment, sweet! LOL

Well, thankfully the asylum states that I have to agree to be committed voluntarily. 8-)

Also, its important for me to try and stick to my word, so if I'm not pretty close to 100% certain to be able to do something then caveats need to be involved.
Unlike lets say, if I were the embodiment of a certain snack food, where my word was literally meaningless. :o
