I'm finalizing the group of cards for our 18.2 vote and wanted to get some direction from you regarding which Ryan Klesko year to include. The ones that have been nomintated/mentioned in the past are...
1999
2001
2002

We can see the 1999 card as a 9R. Can someone please fill in the blanks for us so I can present the best year for the 18.2 vote?

I would guess he will be a defensive 4 in every year
BA OBP SLG OPS OPS+
99 297 .376 .532 .908 128 5 steals, 15 game inj risk
01 286 .384 .539 .923 145 23 steals 3 game inj
02 300 .388 .537 .925 152 6 steals

without looking at the cards, I would vote 02 simply because I think it's his best offensive year, and at least he played 1b and OF (in 01 he just played 1b)

He's an 9R in 99
4R in 01
1R in 02

99 1b-4e17, LF-3(+2)2
01 1b-4e13
02 1b-3e10, RF-4(+1)9

Based on the above, I like the 99 card, would be a great platoon option

Thanks for the data Andy. I vote 02 - he's actually a 3 at a position(!) and it's his best overall offensive year without the 15 game risk. But each player has different agendas, nothing wrong with that.

Why not have a two day runoff vote. Like seeing which team will be the 64th to the NCAA tournament.

So here's the link to Klesko's '99 card from the '90s game:

http://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/612/1690/1/90

I know he's supposed to be a platoon player, but there's not a single hit on his card against lefties, so if there's a pitching change, and HAL fails to pinch hit as HAL often does, Klesko has absolutely no chance against lefties. Plus, he's not exactly Gates Brown against righties. In addition, there are plenty of lefty swinging 1st basemen who are better on both sides of their card than Klesko is against righties. I don't think the '99 9R Klesko would get used much.

I'll take a guy who can play full time any day over a platoon player who isn't even as good on his best side of the card as most of the fulltime players are on each side of their card.

If Klesko's going to be on the ballot, I'm in favor of the '02 card, which has good numbers and is far more balanced than any of his other cards. That card would probably get used alot, especially at caps of $100 mil and less.

95 vs righties roughly 39 on base chances including 8 straight HR shots, plus 8 bp hr's
vs lefty roughly 35 on base chances plus 3 b hr's
