EXPANSION (1967-1998) Outfielders--IMPROVEMENT Edition

PostFri Mar 01, 2019 3:25 pm

Many have said that we don't know what we are getting when we nominate cards, so I've taken some time to put some stats together from some cards, using Diamond Dope and Veterans 1975 for the park, since it's kind of neutral (10,10,10,10). I asked Bill for his permission/blessing to do this. So I'll be posting some card add ideas, thoughts, etc to hopefully keep interest up and give folks some stuff to actually discuss on the boards.

My Goals on IMPROVEMENTS:
1--Provide a card that is more representative of a player's career than their current card(s)
2--Provide a card that is fundamentally different than their current cards

1991 Bobby Bonilla, PIT, Bats-S, E Balance, RF-3(-1)e4, 1b-4e7, 3b-4e37
LH--5.9 2b, 0.2 3b, 10.2 HR, 8 BB 310/368/682, 1.050 OPS
RH--11.5 2b, 1.6 3b, 0.2 HR, 24 BB 379/523/561, 1.084 OPS
Finished 3rd in MVP Voting, Led League in Doubles, better than the 1987 card and more representative of what he was for almost a decade. This is also one of those unique cards that is balanced in an unbalanced way: lots of HR power vs LHP, lots of Doubles and OBP vs RHP.

1977 Al Bumbry, BAL, Bats-L, 2R Balance, LF-3(+1)e4, CF-4(+1)e4, Steal: *4-6/-(16-12)
LH--0 2b, 2 3b, 0.8 HR, 11 BB 310/387/376, .763 OPS
RH--10.7 2b, 0 3b, 1.1 HR, 5 BB 416/449/552, 1.001 OPS
Great leadoff guy for the O's for more than a decade. His other cards are not representative of his career. This card is better offensively than his 1980 card, plus he can play LF (his 1980 card is only eligible in CF and is not great on defense). He can work on those RHP, imagine a platoon with Gene Clines, etc

1971 Willie Davis, LA, Bats-L, E Balance, CF-1(-1)e8, Steal: *2-5, 11,12/-(16-12)
LH--11.2 2b, 3.5 3b, 1 HR, 0 BB 336/336/530, .866 OPS
RH--6.9 2b, 1.6 3b, 3.3 HR, 0 BB 369/369/554, .924 OPS
Dodgers starting CF for 12 seasons, not greatly represented, Nice add for Dodgers and small ball teams. He has some other similar cards that could be considered, BUT he is only a 1 at CF in this one, making it the one that we'd need.

1981 Andre Dawson, MON, Bats-R, 2L Balance, CF-1(-2)e11, Steal:*2-5/-(19-14)
LH--5.7 2b, 0 3b, 14.1 HR, 0 BB 375/398/837, 1.235 OPS
RH--0.5 2b, 1 3b, 15 HR, 3 BB 330/370/800, 1.173 OPS
Both of The Hawk's CF cards are unbalanced. This one has flat out AMAZING HR totals for him. Great defense, great speed, Power vs both sides. Only downside is, it's a strike shortened Injury card, but it is an awesome add. Finished 2nd in the MVP Voting.

1983 Andre Dawson, MON, Bats-R, E Balance, CF-1(-4)e9, Steal: *2-5,9/-(17-13)
LH--6.3 2b, 4 3b, 5.2 HR, 8 BB 376/400/685, 1.124 OPS
RH--7.5 2b, 2 3b, 9 HR, 0 BB 324/343/690, 1.033 OPS
This card is balance and has no injury issues. It is not as awesome as 81, but it does give a Balanced Dawson instead of one that's either just strong vs LHP or just strong vs RHP.

1987 Dwight Evans, BOS, Bats-R, 4L Balance, RF-1(-4)e2, 1b-4e26
LH--7.7 2b, 0 3b, 13.3 HR, 19 BB 449/551/990, 1.541 OPS
RH--7.2 2b, 0.3 3b, 7.6 HR, 27 BB 316/493/693, 1.186 OPS
With all the guys getting in, Dewey should be in the HOF. This is a great card. Led League in RBI, 4th in MVP voting. It has the defense, and it has more power and hitting than the current 1984 card. This card is better than the 1981 season, plus it doesn't have 81's injury problems.

1967 Curt Flood, STL, Bats-R, 1R Balance, CF-1(0)e5
LH--1 2b, 0.2 3b, 2.1 HR, 8 BB 406/455/482, .937 OPS
RH--7.4 2b, 0 3b, 0.6 HR, 7 BB 433/475/525, 1.000 OPS
Important guy for history of baseball, and this would be his best card by a long shot. Much better OBP and hitting to go along with great defense. 13th in MVP Voting.

1967 Tony Gonzalez, PHI, Bats-L, 4R Balance, LF-2(0)e3, RF-3(0)e3, CF-4(0)e3
LH--0.4 2b, 0.8 3b, 0 HR, 4 BB 336/373/355, .728 OPS
RH--5.9 2b, 3.1 3b, 3 HR, 6 BB 456/496/667, 1.163 OPS
Good Phillies LH bat for the 1960s. This card would be nice vs RHP, and much better than his other cards.

1977 George Hendrick, SD, Bats-R, E Balance, LF/CF/RF-2(-1)e8, Steal: *4,6/-(15-11)
LH--0.2 2b, 0 3b, 5.1 HR, 13 BB 418/494/581, 1.075 OPS
RH--5.5 2b, 0.3 3b, 8 HR, 11 BB 383/451/696, 1.148 OPS
Very nice card for Hendrick, would improve on his 1982 card by a lot.

1993 Lance Johnson, CWS, Bats-L, 2R Balance, CF-1(+1)e11, Steal: *2-5/-(19-13)
LH--1.8 2b, 2.3 3b, 0 HR, 5 BB 282/315/342, .657 OPS
RH--1.3 2b, 5.4 3b, 0 HR, 3 BB 365/382/480, .862 OPS
Led League in Triples, Led League 5 times in Triples. This would be more usable than current scrub cards. For 7 or 8 years he was a good leadoff man for White Sox.

1976 Ron Leflore, DET, Bats-R, 2L Balance, CF-3(0)e14, Steal: *6-8/-(18-15)
LH--5.3 2b, 3.3 3b, 1.4 HR, 13 BB 431/505/601, 1.105 OPS
RH--3.5 2b, 1.5 3b, 1.4 HR, 8 BB 345/400/454, .854 OPS
This would be an awesome small ball DH, much better than current cards. This card is just as good vs RHP as his 1977 card, but much better vs LHP than 1977 card.

1976 Garry Maddox, PHI, Bats-R, E Balance, CF-1(-2)e6, Steal: *2-6/-(17-13)
LH--11.8 2b, 0.8 3b, 1.6 HR, 6 BB 388/433/568, 1.001 OPS
RH--8.8 2b, 1.5 3b, 0.8 HR, 4 BB 400/433/539, .972 OPS
The Secretary of Defense. Finished 5th in MVP Voting. Better hitting card than current ones.
Bill Conlin said, "Two-thirds of the Earth is covered by water, the other one-third by Garry Maddox."

1993 Al Martin, PIT, Bats-L, 5R Balance, LF/RF-3(0)e9, CF-4(0)e9, Steal: *2-7,10/-(15-13)
LH--6.5 2b, 1.4 3b, 2.3 HR, 11 BB 114/205/279, .483 OPS
RH--6.1 2b, 2.8 3b, 7.3 HR, 4 BB 343/368/664, 1.032 OPS
Replaced Bonds with the Pirates. Good card for a platoon vs RHP.

1988 Kevin McReynolds, NYM, Bats-R, E Balance, LF-1(-3)e5, CF-3(-3)e5, Steal: *7/-(20-12)
LH--6.8 2b, 1.7 3b, 11 HR, 0 BB 292/306/700, 1.006 OPS
RH--5.5 2b, 0 3b, 6.8 HR, 9 BB 366/431/633, 1.004 OPS
A better card than 1984, a Mets Card. 5th in MVP Voting. Good power.

1976 Rick Monday, CHC, Bats-L, 3R Balance, CF/LF-1(-2)e3, 1b-4e15
Good vs RHP, Great defense, and this card will save the American Flag if someone tries to burn it.

1985 Tim Raines, MON, Bats-S, 2R Balance, LF-2(+2)e2, Steal: *2-5,10/-(19-15)
LH--0.3 2b, 2.5 3b, 5 HR, 12 BB 364/440/577, 1.018 OPS
RH--6.9 2b, 3.9 3b, 0.9 HR, 15 BB 472/550/659, 1.209 OPS
This card is better vs RHP than the 7m card, and would probably be cheaper due to the 2 in LF

1972 Joe Rudi, OAK, Bats-R, E Balance, LF-1(0)e2, 3b-4e37
LH--7 2b, 2.7 3b, 5 HR, 0 BB 364/370/621, .991 OPS
RH--6.8 2b, 2.4 3b, 4.8 HR, 4 BB 359/389/610, .999 OPS
Great A's outfielder, finished 2nd in MVP voting, would be a great improvement on the 1976 card.
Led the League in Hits.

1983 Alan Wiggins, SD, Bats-S, 1L Balance, LF/RF-1(0)e4, CF-2(0)e4, 1b-3e25, Steal: *2-6/-(19-15)
LH--3.5 2b, 0 3b, 0 HR, 9 BB 316/373/351, .724 OPS
RH--2.5 2b, 0.2 3b, 0 HR, 17 BB 262/378/293, .671 OPS
Great threat for steals back in the 80s, EXCELLENT defense, the season before they decided it'd be great to try him at 2b (oops). Small Ball player.

Don't know if you guys remember the story with this guy...

from Frank M

1969 Matty Alou, PIT, Bats-L, 3R Balance, LF-2(+2)e8, CF-2(+2)e8, Steal: *5,6/-(17-11)
LH--7.1 2b, 1.2 3b, 0 HR, 0 BB 302/309/391, .699 OPS
RH--8 2b, 0.6 3b, 0.5 HR, 1 BB 435/445/534, .979 OPS
This is an improvement on Matty's other cards, he led league in Hits and Doubles.

1986 Phil Bradley, SEA, Bats-R, E Balance, LF/CF-2(+1)e1, Steal: *2-6,10/-(15-12)
LH--0.9 2b, 0.8 3b, 2.8 HR, 19 BB 409/529/534, 1.063 OPS
RH--6.1 2b, 1 3b, 1.1 HR, 18 BB 368/491/499, .990 OPS

Current 1984 Bradley, SEA, Bats-R, 6R Balance, LF/RF/CF-2(+1)e4, Steal: *2-6/-(17-13)
LH--2 2b, 2.7 3b, 0 HR, 9 BB 144/231/221, .452 OPS
RH--2.4 2b, 1.3 3b, 0 HR, 13 BB 459/534/511, 1.045 OPS

The 1986 improves on Bradley, though I like his 1984 6R card. 1986 card is more well-rounded and has good OBP. It'd be ok for SEA exp.

1984 Jeffrey Leonard, SF, Bats-R, 4L Balance, LF-1(-2)e10, CF/RF-1(-2)e10
LH--6 2b, 0.6 3b, 10 HR, 5 BB 428/455/789, 1.244 OPS
RH--5.7 2b, 0 3b, 4.6 HR, 11 BB 309/380/510, .889 OPS

Current 1987 Leonard
LH--10.2 2b, 0 3b, 3.9 HR, 0 BB 312/319/517, .836 OPS
RH--5.6 2b, 1.8 3b, 5 HR, 0 BB 329/335/554, .889 OPS

The 1984 card is what I call an improvement, because it is fundamentally different, providing a cool platoon card that has great defense at all 3 spots. I like this card.

1984 Dan Gladden
I don't even want to do this card. It is so much of an outlier for his career, numbers he never even came close to again, and put up over only half a season.

1999 Brian Giles, PIT, Bats-L, 2R Balance, LF/RF-2(0)e4, CF-3(0)e4
LH--5.7 2b, 0.5 3b, 6.4 HR, 18 BB 341/457/632, 1.089 OPS
RH--6.6 HR, 0.3 3b, 12.3 HR, 22 BB 373/506/889, 1.396 OPS

Current 2002 Giles, PIT, Bats-L, 5R Balance, LF-3(+1)e8, CF-3e8
LH-- 6.5 2b, 0.8 3b, 7.9 HR, 21 BB 208/384/585, .969 OPS
RH--7.8 2b, 1.2 3b, 11.8 HR, 33 BB 406/604/1.037, 1.641 OPS

I think the 2002 current card is better. The 1999 has better defense and can be used in more places. The offense is just on the side of 2002, except for a slightly better vs LH line. But that line doesn't make up for the difference vs RH.
2002 is probably Giles best season.

1997 Raul Mondesi, LA, Bats-R, 2R Balance, RF-1(-5)e4, Steal: *2-6/-(17-14)
LH--3 2b, 0.9 3b, 7.8 HR, 11 BB 312/394/608, 1.003 OPS
RH--9.3 2b, 1.2 3b, 8.8 HR, 1 BB 380/397/742, 1.139 OPS

1995 Current Mondesi, LA, Bats-R, 2R Balance, RF-1(-5)e8, Steal: *2-5/-(19-13)
LH--4.7 2b, 2.9 3b, 6.8 HR, 9 BB 238/316/554, .870 OPS
RH--3 2b, 1.3 3b, 8.5 HR, 2 BB 347/371/645, 1.016 OPS

I like the 1997 card. Would be a good one. Improves Mondesi, much better vs LHP than 1995.

1993 Juan Gonzalez, TEX, Bats-R, 1L Balance, LF-3(0)e5
LH--9.3 2b, 0 3b, 14.3 HR, 0 BB 406/433/911, 1.344 OPS
RH--6.4 2b, 0 3b, 14.8 HR, 3 BB 375/422/882, 1.303 OPS
Led League in HR, 4th in MVP Voting.

Current 1996 Gonzalez, TEX, Bats-R, 8L Balance, RF-3(0)e3
LH--11.2 2b, 0 3b, 26.3 HR, 3 BB 464/484/1.329, 1.813 OPS
RH--5.3 2b, 0.6 3b, 11.3 HR, 3 BB 320/345/707, 1.052 OPS

I like the 93 card because it is balanced, and therefore, different than 1996. He hit 40 HRs 5 times in the 1990s. How did he do it? For you to decide I guess.....
But I like the card.

1979 Gorman Thomas Brewers CF RF LF 2(-2)e8 , .244/.356 45 Hrs, Stormin Gorman can play all 3 OF positions equally making this a much more useful card and hit a career high 45 homers,

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/742002/1670/1/70

1977 Dusty Baker CF-2 (-2)e3 , LF-3, RF-3, Dodgers .291/.364 OBP 30 Hrs, solid balanced card and can play all 3 outfield positions.

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/730416/1670/1/70

1961 Wally Moon LF 3(+1)e6, RF 3e6 Dodgers .328/.434 OBP 17 HRs in 463 ABs, plays 2 positions and hits RH pitching extremely well.

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/38412/1660/1/60

1977 or 78 Jeff Boroughs rf3(-1)e7 LF-4, 1B -4e24 Braves , both years he posted solid numbers, 78s is probably a better card but he might be an injury risk due to low ABs. Both cards however better than his present one.

1969 Jim Northrup RF-2(-1)e5, LF-2, CF-3; Tigers, .295/.358, 25 HRs. Much better batting average and OBP than the cards we presently have.

1979 Gorman Thomas, MIL, Bats-R, 2L Balance, CF-1(-2)e4
LH--5.4 2b, 0 3b, 13.3 HR, 30 BB 248/464/834, 1.298 OPS
RH--4.3 2b, 0 3b, 12.2 HR, 20 BB 200/356/670 1.026 OPS
Led League in HR.

Current 1982 Thomas, 6.94m, MIL, Bats-R, 1L Balance, CF-1(-2)e4
LH--5.9 2b, 0 3b, 13.2 HR, 19 BB 285/424/808, 1.232 OPS
RH--3.9 2b, 0 3b, 11.2 HR, 17 BB 251/383/672, 1.055 OPS
Led League in HR.

Other than a few more walks against LHP, the 1979 is already replicated in the 1982 card. Don't see a point in adding it.

1977 Dusty Baker---card's already in the ATG set.

1961 Wally Moon, LA, Bats-L, 4R Balance, LF-3(+1)e7, RF-4(+1)e7
LH--3.6 2b, 0 3b, 1.1 HR, 21 BB 308/443/385, .828 OPS
RH--5.9 2b, 0.3 3b, 4.7 HR, 22 BB 423/541/662, 1.202 OPS
13th in MVP Voting

Current 1954 Moon, 4.20m, STL, Bats-L, 3R Balance, LF-2(+1)e10, CF-3(+1)e10
LH--4.2 2b, 0 3b, 1.7 HR, 11 BB 264/339/360, .699 OPS
RH--4.3 2b, 3.4 3b, 1.1 HR, 9 BB 390/441/535, .976 OPS
Rookie of the Year

A pretty decent add. Not extremely higher than his career numbers. Better OBP across the board than the current 1954 card.

1977 Jeff Burroughs, ATL, Bats-R, 4L Balance, RF-3(-1)e8
LH--2.7 2b, 0.4 3b, 15.6 HR, 25 BB 307/467/913 1.380 OPS
RH--0.9 2b, 0 3b, 8.1 HR, 18 BB 281/401/561, .962 OPS

1978 Jeff Burroughs, ATL, Bats-R, 3L Balance, LF/RF-4(-1)e7
LH--4.9 2b, 3.3 3b, 5.1 HR 34 BB 511/665/872, 1.538 OPS
RH--5.3 2b, 1.3 3b, 5.8 HR, 29 BB 282/475/601 1.075 OPS

Current 1974 Burroughs, 5.56m, TEX, Bats-R, 3L Balance, RF-3(-1)e9, 1b-4e24
LH--5.1 2b, 0.5 3b, 12.3 HR, 28 BB 367/543/916, 1.459 OPS
RH--7.2 2b, 0 3b, 4.55 HR, 14 BB 328/427/554, .981 OPS
MVP in 1974, led League with 118 RBI.

Not comparing the 3m RH Balanced card. All these are better vs LHP.
1977 has HR power vs LHP, 1978 has AVG & OBP vs LHP, Current 1974 card has a better mix of both.

1969 Jim Northrup, DET, Bats-L, 3L Balance, RF/LF-2(-1)e6, CF-3(-1)e6
LH--11 2b, 1 3b, 6.1 HR, 12 BB 404/476/734, 1.210 OPS
RH--5.4 2b, 1 3b, 5.9 HR, 6 BB 300/346/549, .895 OPS

Current 1968 Northrup, 3.14m, DET, Bats-L, 3R Balance, RF/LF-2(-1)e8, CF-3(-1)e8
LH--5.6 2b, 0.5 3b, 2.9 HR, 8 BB 225/289/378, .667 OPS
RH--6.2 2b, 2.1 3b, 5.6 HR, 6 BB 308/353/577, .930 OPS

That'd be a very welcome addition, it's fundamentally different than the 68 card, plus it's better all the way around. 1969 is just as good vs RHP as 1968, and 1969 is much better vs LHP.

1997 David Justice, Indians, RF, LF 4(0) e4, Bats L 1L .329 33 101 .418 .596 1.013 Career highs in Hits, BA, OBP, SLG, OPS & OPS+. Justice had a fine career and I always thought that it was an injustice that he doesn't have a better card. This card is just as good against lefties as it is against righties. Obviously a DH, likely bargain priced somewhere between than the newly added 1979 Oscar Gamble card and the 1987 Kal Daniels due to similar numbers and poor defense, the same injury rating as Daniels, but better performance against lefties than Daniels.

1998 Eric Davis, Orioles, RF, CF 3(+1) e3, Bats R, 2R .327 28 89 .388 .582 .970. After missing the entire 1995 season to fight cancer, Davis came back in his mid 30s to play five more seasons. 1998 at age 36 was the best of those seasons. He posted career highs in Hits & BA and near career highs in OBP, SLG, OPS & OPS+. Unlike his other cards, this Davis card can actually hit righties. Likely bargain priced, as he has a 2 injury rating.

1997 David Justice, CLE, Bats-L, 1L Balance, RF/LF-4(0)e4, 2 INJ Rating, 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--8.2 2b, 0 3b, 13.3 HR, 11 BB 392/454/886, 1.339 OPS
RH--3.9 2b, 0 3b, 9.6 HR, 19 BB 388/496/756, 1.251 OPS
5th in MVO Voting.

Current 1991 Justice, 3.75m, ATL, Bats-L, 1R Balance, RF-3(-1)e11, 2 INJ Rating, 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--3.7 2b, 0. 3b, 7 HR, 5 BB 299/344/549, .893 OPS
RH--9.6 HR, 0 3b, 8.3 HR, 23 BB 273/441/686, 1.127 OPS
12th in MVP Voting

Or if you're like me and would rather see a better Braves card for Justice, there is:
1990 David Justice, ATL, Bats-L, 5L Balance, 1b-4e27, RF-3(0)e11, 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--7.2 2b, 0 3b, 12.4 HR, 16 BB 447/529/929, 1.458 OPS
RH--4.2 2b, 0.8 3b, 9.4 HR, 17 BB 239/359/612, .970 OPS
Rookie of the Year

1993 David Justice, ATL, Bats-L, 1L Balance, RF-3(-1)e5, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH--1.2 2b, 0 3b, 9.5 HR, 7 BB 315/365/610, .975 OPS
RH--0 2b, 0.9 3b, 10.4 HR, 13 BB 253/350/602, .952 OPS
3rd in MVP Voting.

1994 David Justice, ATL, Bats-L, 2R Balance, RF-3(-1)e18, 2 INJ Rating, 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--4 2b, 1.1 3b, 3.6 HR, 27 BB 327/502/539, 1.041 OPS
RH--2.2 2b, 0 3b, 9.4 HR, 21 BB 372/500/726 1.226 OPS

1997 is a good offensive year for Justice. For better Braves cards, I also like the above 1990 card with its big balance toward LHP, not many cards like that in the set. Also like that 1994 card with his best career OBP and plenty of power vs RHP.

1998 Eric Davis, BAL, Bats-R, 2R Balance, RF/CF-3(+1)e3, 2 INJ Rating, 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--8 2b, 0 3b, 9.2 HR, 12 BB 328/415/706, 1.121 OPS
RH--6.1 2b, 0 3b, 9.4 HR, 9 BB 437/494/791, 1.285 OPS

Current 1987 Davis, 8.38m, CIN, Bats-R, 5L Balance, CF/LF-1(-3)e5, Steal: *4-6/- (19-15), 15 Game INJ Risk
LH--4.9 2b, 0 3b, 18.1 HR, 19 BB 397/503/1.062, 1.565 OPS
RH--4 2b, 1.5 3b, 7.5 HR, 23 BB 278/432/625, 1.057 OPS

1984 Dave Winfield, Yankees, LF, RF 1(-5) e2, CF 3(-5) e2 .340 19 100 .393 .515 .908 Career highs in Hits & BA; One of Winfield's best seasons for DO, OBP & OPS. This card is similar to the Clemente cards, but without the 15 game injury drama. If you like to play smallball, 1984 Winfield would be perfect for LF, especially at caps of $100 mil or more, since the only other players who are 1(-5) in LF are Meusel and Dihigo, and Winfield's card is better, both offensively and defensively.

1986 Jesse Barfield, Blue Jays, RF 1(-5) e3, CF 2(-5) e3 .289 40 108 .368 .559 .927 Career highs in BA, DO, HR, RBI, SLG, OPS & 2nd best career high in OBP. Won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger. Barfield was a good player for many years, and hit 40 HRs in a season in the pre-steroid era.

1974 Rick Monday, Cubs CF 1(-1) Bats L .294 20 58 .375 .467 .842. Monday had a fine 19 year big league career with the A's, Cubs and Dodgers and this was his career high BA as a regular at a time when hitting .294 meant that you were a good hitter. The Cubs are woefully short on good lefty sticks and Monday hit .313 vs lefties that year and .285 against righties. This card would be an improvement over Monday's 1975 card, where he hit just .267. The Cubs are in need of good lefty bats in franchise league play, and Monday would help.

1972 Joe Rudi, LF, 1(0) e2 A's Bats R .305 19 75 .345 .486 .830. Led AL in hits and 3B. Career highs in PA, R, H, 3B, TB, OBP, OPS & OPS+. Near career highs in BA, 2B, HR, BB. 2nd in MVP voting behind Dick Allen. In 1972, the strike shortened year of the pitcher, Rudi had his finest season, despite playing in cavernous Oakland Alameda Coliseum. A major cog in those A's teams that won 3 straight world championships, Rudi was considered the most underrated player in baseball. A fine fielder, Rudi never put up gaudy numbers or was flashy, but did all the little things to help his team win. This would be a great improvement over Rudi's 1976 card.

1972 Joe Rudi, OAK, Bats-R, E Balance, LF-1(0)e2, 3b-4e37
LH--7 2b, 2.7 3b, 5 HR, 0 BB 364/370/621, .991 OPS
RH--6.8 2b, 2.4 3b, 4.8 HR, 4 BB 359/389/610, .999 OPS

1958 Jackie Jensen, RF, 1(-3)e16 Red Sox, Bats R .286 35 122 .396 .535 .931 Career highs in HR, RBI, SLG, TB, OPS, OPS+. Near career best in DO. Led AL in RBI, AL MVP. Played all 154 games for the Red Sox, so likely bullet proof. Retired prematurely because of fear of flying and to spend more time with his family. I've never quite understood why Jensen gets virtually no mention for an upgraded card. This card would help the Post War BoSox in franchise leagues.

1958 Jackie Jensen, BOS, Bats-R, 5L Balance, RF-1(-3)e16, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH-- 11.2 2b, 0 3b, 13.3 HR, 40 BB 452/660/1.215, 1.875 OPS
RH--5.5 2b, 0 3b, 8.3 HR, 19 BB 324/449/668, 1.117 OPS

Current 1957 Jackie Jensen, 5.10m, BOS, Bats-R, 1L Balance, RF/LF-1(-3)e14, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH--8.3 2b, 0.7 3b, 5.1 HR, 19 BB 340/462/621, 1.083 OPS
RH--5.3 2b, 0 3b, 5.7 HR, 16 BB 298/409/545, .954 OPS
That is some line vs LHP.

1971 Tony Oliva, Twins RF, 2(-2) Bats L .337 22 81 .369 .546. 915 Led AL in BA & SLG. Career high in BA & OPS+ and near career highs in OBP, SLG & OPS. Was the last great season of Oliva's illustrious career before a serious knee injury turned him into a DH, shortened his career and took away his HOF chances. A 5R monster! Check it out!

1973 Dave May Brewers CF, 2(-2) Bats L .303 25 93 .352 .473 .824 Career highs in virtually every offensive category. Led AL in total bases. A good lefty bat alternative in CF to low BA/OBP Gorman Thomas for the Brewers in franchise leagues.

1973 Dave May, MIL, Bats-L, 1R Balance, CF-2(-2)e10, 3 Game INJ Risk
LH—2b-2.1, 3b-1, HR-6.4, BB-0, 308/321/528, .849 OPS
RH—2b-3.9, 3b-0.3, HR-6.4, BB-7, 381/432/619, 1.052 OPS

1983 Lloyd Moseby Blue Jays, CF 2(-1) e8 Bats L 1R .315 18 81 .376 .499 .875 27 SBs Career highs in Hits, DO, BA, OPB, OPS, OPS+. A good lefty bat alternative for the Blue Jays in CF in franchise leagues.

1978 Jack Clark Giants RF 3(-2) Bats R 2L .306 25 98 .358 .537 .895 15 SBs. Full season career high in Hits, DO, TR, BA, TB & SBs. Near career highs in Runs and SLG. Check out all the extra base hits on this card! Doesn't have all the walks of the other Clark cards, but has lots more hits.

https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/732095/1670/1/70

1968 Willie Mays, Giants .289 23 79 .372 .488. At 37 years of age, father time had begun to take his toll on the great Say Hey Kid, but even at his advanced age in the year of the pitcher, Mays put up good enough numbers to rank among the league leaders in most offensive categories. Mays played in 148 games and won his last Gold Glove. While technically not an improvement over his other cards, wouldn't it be great to have this very good and lower priced Mays card to play CF for the Giants in expansion franchise leagues?
