How can Ron Karkovice get twice as many votes as Kenji Johjima? Makes zero sense to me. I can't see ever using the Karkovice card, but Seattle desperately needs catchers.

Oh well, when do nominations for 22.2 start...

I think the voters did a great job overall.

Unless it is over-priced, I plan to use the Karkovice card. He's 1(-4) with righty power. Should be a good cheap catcher for a low cap righty power park team, when you need the arm.

Some voters might not like that Johjima only played 4 years in MLB. Karkovice had a 12 year career, no card.

Karkovice was part of a good division winning White Sox club, while Johjima was on a losing Seattle team.

I agree Seattle needs another catcher. Might need a new candidate though, it seems.

Great crop this round!

Too bad about Johjima but there were a lot of other great options to choose from. Some of us don't play franchise format so that's part of it.

As a Mariners fan, it's very easy to recall the team's good catcher seasons apart from Dan Wilson, because they are so few and far between. Johjima was one. I believe the only others are:

1993 Dave Valle https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/42339/1690/1/90
2017 Mike Zunino https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/91832/2017/1/2017 although I'm surprised to see his fielding was a 3 on this card as he's always been an elite defensive catcher (he's been a 1 every year since). 2021 might end up being a better card for him (he hilariously had more homers than singles) assuming he gets his now-customary 1, but that's obviously with Tampa.
2019 Omar Narvaez https://365.strat-o-matic.com/player/93014/2019/1/2019 M's pointlessly traded this guy for a bag of balls and now the Brewers have quite impressively fixed his defense, his best card is probably yet to come. But 2019's hitting makes it playable in a platoon.

There's also 2019 Austin Nola which is an interesting utility card including catcher but unfortunately didn't have quite enough PA.

Good to see I sparked some healthy debate. I stand by what I said, but overall I have to agree that we have a very good crop of "inductees" once again.

IMO Dave Valle = Ron Karkovice. They may have some value as a cheap backup on your roster but I'll bet you'll be praying that they don't actually have to come to bat.

That Valle card isn't that bad, and I always liked him :)

With all due respect, you might be the only one using him. That card is terrible. Use Tom Pagnozzi instead.
It's a wasted pick IMO.
So is the Abreu pick. He's a 4 in RF.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. Keeps things interesting.

All boils down to price for me really. If Karkovice is cheap enough, he'll get used.

I'd think Karkovice would price out at 1.75 range. Very usable in the right park, kind of like the big-armed Archer card, but with power.

The new Abreu card should be much cheaper than the 7.95 card because of his poor defense. I think he might get used as a DH if the price is low enough.

Odd how Wickman and Ron Davis shot up the board in the last two days.
