Regarding the better data, we are adding a page that describes ratings today. In the meantime, the descriptions are listed below.

Again, we do appreciate the feedback and hope you enjoy the game!

How to interpret player ratings?
Player ratings for run blocking, pass blocking, and defense are used throughout the game to determine yardage, sacks, and whether some passes are completed or not. Team ratings (TOL, TDL, TDLB, TDB) are a sum of all players within the unit. Each rating is outlined in more detail below:
RUN BLOCKING
Every fullback/blocking back, tight end, and offensive lineman receive a run block rating. These ratings are used when the roll on the team defense card results in using the run block rating to determine yardage. Run block ratings can be 0 (worst), 4, 5, or 6 (best). The following percentages are used for each rating:
RUN BLOCK RATING LOWER YARDAGE FIGURE
HIGHER YARDAGE FIGURE
0 100% 0%
4 66% 33%
5 33% 66%
6 0% 100%

PASS BLOCKING
Every fullback/blocking back and offensive lineman receive a pass block rating. These ratings are used when a pass rush situation occurs (approximately 7 times per game under normal situations). A combination of the pass rush rating for the defensive player, the pass block rating of the offensive player, plus formation and other variables are used to determine whether a sack occurs or not. Pass block ratings can be 0 (worst), 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7 (best).
PASS RUSH
Every fullback/blocking back and offensive lineman receive a pass block rating. These ratings are used when a pass rush situation occurs (approximately 7 times per game under normal situations). A combination of the pass rush rating for the defensive player, the pass block rating of the offensive player, plus formation and other variables are used to determine whether a sack occurs or not. Pass rush ratings range from 0 (worst) – 12 (best).
DEFENSE
Every defensive player receives a defense rating. These ratings are used when the roll on the team defense card results in using either the run defense rating to determine yardage or the pass defense rating to determine a completion or not. Defense ratings can be 0 (worst), 4, 5, or 6 (best). The following percentages are used for each rating:
DEFENSE RATING LOWER YARDAGE FIGURE/COMPLETION
HIGHER YARDAGE FIGURE/INCOMPLETION
0 100% 0%
4 66% 33%
5 33% 66%
6 0% 100%

All ATF players receive one defense rating. In 2016 and later player sets, some players (defensive linebackers, safeties, and backup defensive backs) receive multiple ratings. These players have both a run defense and pass defense rating which do not need to match. The first rating listed is the players pass defense rating while the second is the run defense rating.
