kick returner/ split end

If post draft, I have an expensive wideout listed at kick returner, can I drop a different wideout and pick up a cheap free agent kick returner? (My current kick returner would slide to replace the wideout I dropped.)

Hopefully, you can do this. Otherwise during the draft, SOM is arbitrarily burning a lot of salary by assigning position players to specialist roles.
