First played the SOM FB board game with the 1968 set. I know only games have been run, but I signed up for a free trial. Clicking in the morning to see a score on a game I have no idea was run is no fun for me. Do not care. I do not know the math behind the alleged dice rolls on defense. Sorry, Will not be buying this product.

I agree. I played two seasons of football strat when I was young, so I know the basics. But the lack of options in the computer game takes the fun away.
Part of the fun in Strat is to play with your roster...have a solid running back between the tackles, a specialist in 3rd and long, a specialist in the 3rd and short...a receiver better in the flat, a receiver better in the long pass...but with the current game, there is no way I can tell the computer to use this roster the way I intend to do it.
Plus, there is kinda of a leap in faith, you press two-three buttons, and you "hope" that the computer will do what you want him to do...
Even though the baseball on-line game is far from perfect, I feel we have much more options in the baseball computer game...the way we can set up our bullpen, the way we can set up our starting pitchers (with the options available, clicking the right options allow me to take away my pitcher as early in the 5th inning or leave it there until he has nothing left in the arm)

Agreed.
Can't even set backups, have no real way to set a particular set. It will change it depending on game flow, so even what you want won't be run all the time.
You would think SOM would have learned by now to give people more options.

Agreed
Way more lineup options needed.
Just setting a starting lineup is not enough.
Cmon Strat give us some control over Hal

My first league starts Monday.
But I am having a hard time seeing how people who like say ATG baseball could find football boring.
The player pricing is much less precise. More opportunity.
There are many more flavors of team to build.
And, the coaching strategy (and personnel decisiions) for each game seem more varied and much more meaningful.

Actually, quote the opposite.
I'll give you an example, I have a B0 HB, that after 3 games is Doubtful to play the next game. He's averaged 21 carries a game (his backup 10), no overuse. Yet, basically I've lost my main HB for the next game for what exactly when he played 16 games last year?
3 games, then I lose him? Really.
on another team my A0 is Questionable. an A0 should NEVER BE QUESTIONABLE.

geekor, I believe the A0 and B0 refer to injury chances without overusage.
And, I believe that questionable and doubtful are warnings of overusage. Your HB will still play.
If your halfback had more than 336 carries in his real-life designated season, then there is a problem.

Btw, if overusage rules were not as currently enforced, the player pricing would be way off.
In 2016, Kenyan Drake would be much more than $5.25 for example.
He averaged 5.4 ypc but on only 33 carries.

It's not football that's boring, it's the SOM online game that is boring-What MARC posted about lack of control and options. Merely picking a roster and some type of offense/defense is not rewarding. I'm certainly not going to spend a bunch of money trying learn how to navigate the game program to my advantage.

At least the TSN version of SOM online Football played a Half at a time so we could make strategy adjustments at halftime based on how the game is going. 32 nights instead of 16 shouldn't be a big deal from a programming standpoint.
Bottom line, we are all saying pretty much the same thing. Give us more options to run our team....and allow us to make in game adjustments (at least a half at a time).
