Lots of strategy in SOM 365

PostThu Jan 23, 2025 8:23 am

Just finished playing my second season of SOM 365 and thoroughly enjoyed it. This game is full of strategy and a need to prepare for each game by researching your opponents tendencies, strengths, and weaknesses, while also managing your own team for each game.

Impression I have after the 2 seasons (All-Time Greats and 2023) is any team has a decent shot at beating another team if they prepare better than their opponent and (of course) get a few good dice rolls. Thus far, I do find game enjoying to play as is but… also see areas that I would find more enjoyable if changed. Such as….

1) Replay of game, as is available in SOM baseball 365. Each day to avoid knowing who won the game right away, I’d have my wife scroll to where scoreboard could not be seen. This work around was effective for me, but a play by play visual where football moves according to where it is on field, with scoreboard only showing score at that time would be cool.

2) A reveal of dice rolls would be very helpful in getting an understanding of the game and how choices impact it. As is, not knowing those details…. for me leaves a big void.

Without those additions I still find it to be a great game and look forward to playing more seasons. I’m surprised that there is not more SOM 365 football activity and possibly the addition of items 1) and 2) would help to increase participation?

I don't know about your cap question, but there is injury info in the Game Rules.

Re #1, Have you tried this function:

“Hide your Front Office scores

Team: xxxxxxxx
Check this box if you want to hide your scores/results from your "Your Teams" and "Front Office" pages each morning, to give yourself a chance to watch your games unfold with the Game Replay feature, for this team only.’

It’s under “your team” — then “team preferences” tabs

Re #2, the “dice roll” column under the play by play tab gives you the rolls. Except for mystery leagues.

Unfortunately, this only works for baseball, not football.

1. $140M, almost always.
2. Injuries and rest are a nightmare in 365 football. In addition to the normal injuries, the game will often designate a player as Doubtful or Questionable because his usage is slightly ahead of pace. And you have no way of knowing whether that guy is going to play that night. So I try to draft players with good injury ratings (A0 is the best) or make sure I have good backups.
