Be a GM Rules

Initial Draft:
1)      The initial draft will be a 41 round live draft. Rounds 1 through 40 will be for players and Round 41 for the stadium choice.
2)      Any player with previous MLB experience is eligible for selection.
3)      The initial draft will be serpentine. Draft order will be randomized by using the following EVENINGS Pick 3 #'s (Once league is full) based on which state you live in. If in a state that doesn't have a lottery, you will utilize an unused neighboring state's outcome. We will take the lottery results in an ascending order to determine 1-12. See "General Rules" #2 for initial divisional alignments. All subsequent FA drafts will be non-serpentine and will be based on the previous season’s combined regular season records. Draft picks may be traded.
4)      There will be a 2 hour clock for picks M-F 9am - 9pm EST with a no clock during the weekend.

Supplemental Free Agent drafts:
1)      A Supplemental FA draft of up to 3 rounds (36 picks maximum) will be held in mid-July each year during the actual MLB All-Star break week.
2)      All owners must announce any roster drops (up to 3) prior to July 4th or will forfeit any supplemental picks.
3)      Owners may not draft more than 3 players and are not required to draft any during the Supplemental period.
4)      The Supplemental FA draft will be non-serpentine with draft order determined by the previous season’s regular season W-L record.
5)      Only players with previous MLB experience prior to the start of the actual MLB season are eligible to be picked.

Annual Spring Free Agent drafts:
1)      A non-serpentine FA draft of at least 10, but no more than 15 rounds, will be held each year within a week of the new set’s release from SOM. Draft order will be determined by cumulative W-L regular season records with a worst to first like the NFL.
2)      All owners must drop enough players to bring their rosters to a maximum of 30 players allowing for 10 draft picks. Owners may drop below 30 but must stop at 25 prior to the draft. If an owner has obtained FA picks via trade(s), they must follow the above rules and if they utilize FA picks obtained prior to the 10th round, they forfeit any further picks once their roster is at 40.
3)      Roster drops must be announced by the date TBD on the league chat thread based on SOM's release of the online game.
4)      All owners must have a full 40 player roster upon completion of the FA draft.
5)      There will be a 90 minute clock for picks M-F 9am - 9pm EST with a 2 hour clock during the weekend 9am - 9pm EST.

General Rules:
1)      There will be 2 seasons played each year with Season 1 beginning after each year’s Spring Free Agent draft and Season 2 after each year’s Supplemental Free Agent draft.
2)      Divisional assignments will change each season. The format will be as follows: a) Initial divisional assignments will follow the 1-4-7-10 (East), 2-5-8-11 (Central) and 3-6-9-12 (West) format and number assignments will be based on Initial FA draft order. b) Divisional assignments for each Season 2 will be determined by regular season W-L records from the previous season. c) Cumulative regular season W-L records will determine divisional assignments for Season 1 of the new year.
3)      All transactions must be posted on the individual league chat thread.
4)      The league commissioner will maintain a record of all drafts, transactions and player movement and provide a copy via email at the beginning of each new year or upon request.
5)      All ties between teams will be broken by the previous regular season’s head to head W-L record and if needed, cumulative head to head regular season’s W-L records will be used or if needed, the combined run differential of the previous season.
6)      All rules changes will require 8 owners approval to pass.
7)      Since we will be utilizing a salary cap, teams may be run at owner's discretion but it is also expected that all owners will act in the best interests of the league.
8)   Pitcher's will bat in the league.

Stadium Rules:
1)      Each owner will draft a stadium during Round 41 of the Initial Free Agent draft.
2)      Stadium draft order will be the reverse of Round 1 from the Initial Free Agent draft.
3)      Stadiums are unique and belong to each owner for a 2 year minimum. Stadiums may be traded during the offseason period before the start of either season. Upon a new owner taking over a team, the new owner may change their stadium from the remaining stadiums at either of the offseason periods.

Roster Rules:
1)      Each team must carry a maximum of 40 players. In the event a transaction sends an owner’s roster above the 40 player maximum, the owner has 1 day to bring roster back to 40. If an owner has less than 40 players due to trades, the owner may not bring their roster to 40 until the FA draft, whether Spring or Supplemental or through an unbalanced trade in their favor as long as the 40 player maximum is kept.
2)      Each team's roster size is up to the owner as long as it meets SOM minimum and maximum requirements and owner stays under the salary cap.
3)      Each team will be set up with a $100 million salary cap and we will utilize only a 5% FA penalty.
4)      The minimum roster size is 30 players with the only exceptions happening during the Free Agent draft period.

Player Movement:
1)      The trading of players and draft picks is authorized and encouraged. Unbalanced trades are authorized provided the 40 man roster limit is maintained at all times. In the event of an unbalanced trade, the owner of the team whose roster exceeds 40 players is allowed 1 day to release player(s) to bring them back to 40.
2)      There will not be any pickups of Free Agent players except through the Annual Spring or Supplemental drafts.
3)      Players can only be released from the 40 man roster for the following: a) pre-draft release prior to Annual Free Agent draft, b) pre-draft release prior to Supplemental Free Agent draft, c) to bring a roster down to 40 as a result of an unbalanced transaction.

Every trade must be posted on our Individual League Chat thread and include the following info:
