Do you Disrupt a 21-9 Team?

PostThu Apr 18, 2013 11:48 am

This team is playing real well right now. However, the only 3 column hitter that gets any at bats is Nieves. Would you drop Frazier for Morse and Ciriaco, and maybe Ellsbury for McClouth?

why would what column the hits are in matter? a roll of 1-6 is still a roll of 1-6, all columns have the same chances

If your goal is to win games, then don't weaken your team by taking the drop penalty % hit. If your goal is to have all three hitters columns covered for some reason and don't care about your win loss record, then go ahead and dismantle the strong team you put together. In my 300+ teams, I have never even thought of looking at hitters better columns because the odds of rolling a one, two or three are the same no matter what the previous hitters in your lineup rolled.

I'm thinking that evening out what columns the hits are in gives you a better chance of getting hits in games where 11 out of thirteen rolls are 3's (this happened recently). Does anyone think what column the hits are in makes a difference?

Thanks for the replies this is why I was asking.

mathematically it makes no difference. Numbers will tend to bunch within any random pattern, but in the long run the percentages are what they are...if that makes any sense :)

You can just count the hit/walk opportunities on each side:

1 or 12=1
3 or 11 =2
4 or 10=3
5 or 9=4
6 or 8=5
7 = 6

108 chances for 3 columns.

Doesn't matter where they are.

For me, it's a matter of personal preference, I like hits in the two column, and for pitchers, the complete opposite, 1s or 3s for them.

Just Superstitious I guess lol

I have seen this discussion before and it always makes me laugh. I think some of the old school card and dice players are big on which guys have 1,2, or 3 as their good column. It makes no difference mathematically.
