playoff bs you have to see this

The best record guarantees nothing in real life and here in on-line SOM. Besides who says the best team even has the best record? What about run differential, maybe the team with the best run differential should win every time, but they don't and besides that would be boring. I am sorry you lost in the playoffs but it is quite an accomplishment to make the playoffs in one of these leagues. The competition is excellent and the salary caps keep it very competitive. The best thing to do is have fun and keep playing. I consider my team a success if I make the playoffs, anything else is just icing on the cake.

I looked it up. Fact - from 2000-2012 (13 seasons of real life MLB), the team with the best record won the world series only twice - 2007 (Boston) and 2009 (NY Yankees). Only twice in 13 years.

Anything can happen in a short series (and usually does). I do wonder how truly random a computer generated algorhythm for dice is, but it's probably pretty darn close to real dice.

There is one other possible format that would leave the credits the same as now----

That is to turn 12 team leagues into 2 six team divisions, play 18 games with each team in division and 12 games out of division--this is the format the Majors used when Division play began in 1969. It is a balanced schedule too. (currently you play 12 or 9 out of division)

Then add 2 wildcard playoff teams--the next two best records regardless of division, with the best Division winner getting the worst wildcard, division winners are home teams in first round---A credit goes to each of the 2 division winners, and a credit to the league champ---leaving that at 3 credits per league.

There are some great posts on this thread from gbrookes, Steve F. and several other people. I also like miller.randall's idea of two divisions of six teams each. It probably won't happen but I have had this same thought myself. Two six team divisions with two wild cards regardless of divisions would be sweet. And it sure would be nice to get a credit for winning your division. Having said all that we could nit pick forever. It is hard to please everyone all of the time, if not impossible.

I also like the idea of 2 6 team divisions. It would also make the schedule more balanced

I am right there with you. That 2010 and 2011 World Series outcome was bogus both years. Never should have happened. Strat should never have manipulated things so the Rangers would be within a strike twice....

As a Card's fan I was dumbfounded when the 2005 Birds who won 100 games and were 11 games up on the wild card Astros; lost to the Astros in the NLCS.
That was the MVP3 year where Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds were crazy good.


Then the next year the 83 win Birds took it to Detroit who won 95 games that year to win the World Series

There isn't any justice in this game which is why I love it.

Wins get you in and then you need to Freese the other team to win the Title. 40% of my teams make the post season and less then 5% win it all. Gave up long ago on my best teams winning it all as most of my Titles have come from wild cards or the 3rd best Division record.
Just missed the Finals as my team that leads the league by 1 ER a game blew 2 games in 7 with losing the 3rd game by giving up 9 ER in the 8th and 9th to lose 11-10. I also got 7 in the 7th. This game is like Craps as the dice roll and you buy the house drinks or you sell your hair to get home.
This game is Vegas without leaving your home and for $80 you get 40 weeks (5 games) of Craps without losing your house and maybe your wife if you keep it under control. I think I have kids but will have to look into that to make sure. Strat rules. My wife (insert name) (not sure if it is Laura) understands this. Hey we have been married for 7 days now so I should be given a break on her name . I think Elvis married us.

Funny stuff..

Yeah the Giants were not even close to being the best team in the league last season, but they won the World Series. Look at them this year.
