The siren call of Matt Kemp

PostTue Aug 13, 2013 9:53 am

Man, I had Kemp in my first league and he would injure himself arriving at the stadium. He's made of porcelain.

Now HAL autodrafted him for me and, I must say, that card is filled with total base goodness.

This is like an abusive relationship that I can't/won't leave. I know I should release him for someone solid (if dull) like BJ Upton.

Surely Kemp isn't going to let me down like he did before. I think he's a changed man.

I really like your comment! I laughed out loud, but with some agreement.

There's the analytical part of how we play this game - and then there's the psychological/emotional part of what we do! Sometimes it's a favourite player who performs well for us (perhaps overachieving from luck). Sometimes it's a player/card that just looks too good to pass up. I know I have my card favourites each year, and you see certain players being selected by other managers on multiple teams.

Anyway, I can relate to your love/hate relationship in strat with Matt Kemp/2012! Made me laugh!

Oh, my mind knows he's going to break his tibula his first AB. My heart thinks he's going to have a .600 slugging pct.

Matt Kemp has a "tibula"? That explains a lot. He can also pull his "ab-lique" muscle at any time, resulting in "OUT FOR 15 GAMES"...

Just kidding around. I have the same love/injury rage pain with David Ortiz 2012. "All I want is a hug, man!"

Full respect to SOM managers...it takes a special kind to endure this kind of pain. I am still laughing about the "Top This" 27-0 game listed on this same BB.

Regards,

Gene!

I didn't go to med school. I have no idea what's in the body. OK, Kemp will break his femur.

All I know is that son of a gun was the best player on the planet when he crashed into that wall in Coors last year! Can he bounce back to that level again?
