2 outs, bottom of the 9th, tie game.....

This is from a game last night. It's a pretty cool sequence of events in the bottom of the 9th. Every once in a while, when there's a great moment in a game, I imagine what the play-by-play radio call might sound like (short version):

Bottom of 9th, game 3 last night, Winnipeg Jets vs Ottawa Instigators- tied 1-1, Jets batting:

Headley faces McLure, and the lefty strikes him out on 4 pitches. 1 out.

Freiman is up, and Ottawa brings in the righty, Webb. But La Russa (Jets' manager) brings in the pinch hitter, Gose. Gose takes 2 pitches outside. The third pitch is on the outside part of the plate, but hangs in the zone. Gose lashes it to the opposite field, into the gap for a stand-up double.

Rajai Davis is up. Davis fouls off a fastball, then takes a ball outside (slider). Webb goes back to the fast ball, and left it over the plate too much. Davis slices it into centre field, but right at Venable, who fires it back into the infield to prevent Gose from scoring.

Runners at first and third. Hechavarria up, with the weak hitting Cruz (catcher) on deck. One out.

Hechavarria takes strike one, a heater. Next pitch is a slider, and Davis is already nearing second. Jaso holds on. Runners on second and third. Webb comes back with a fastball, hard, but lower than he wanted. Heck makes contact - it's a ground ball hit hard to the short stop. Owings makes the play and fires home. Gose is out!!! Davis takes third on the throw, and Heck is safe at first.

Now Cruz is up, filling in for the injured Russell Martin. Cruz is batting just .162 with 1 RBI in 37 at bats.

Cruz takes. It's a heater on the outside part of the plate, strike 1. Davis is testing his lead, and Webb makes 2 throws to third. Webb delivers from the stretch - a slider. DAVIS IS ALREADY RUNNING HOME, taking off before Webb even releases the ball!!! Davis is heading home!!! Jaso steps forward to take the pitch, a foot behind the plate. Jaso lunges to his left to apply the tag, but DAVIS SLIDES UNDER THE TAG!!! SAFE!!! DAVIS STEALS HOME!!! Cruz leaps in the air and goes right over Davis, while the Jets players run out of the dugout to maul Davis with hugs! Jets win! Jets win! A "walk-off" steal of home by Davis wins it for the Jets!!!!
