.I have a little bit of experience in coaching pitching for over 35 years getting many of my pitchers scolarships to many schools in the States.And to have over 10 of them drafted.3 of them had pretty decent careers in the majors.

Where were you when I was in little league? :lol: Just kidding.

I look back now and realize so many things I was doing wrong. Of course the worse thing I did was go out and pitch for hours until my elbow swelled up like a grapefruit. :lol: All I knew at the time is I loved doing it and thought practice makes perfect.

Could have been worse though. Could have had this darn rotator cuff injury back then. Still not sure how I tore it 70% through. The PT rehab was not a lot of fun. It has given me a whole new appreciation what professional athletes must go trough to rehab through something like this or elbow surgery to make it back and close to what they were before.

Vale....I know about problems with rotar I've thrown so much batting practice over my coaching career that I've torn all 5 of them in my right shoulder.Funny thing none of the tears happened when pitching.For every one,I first got cortisone shots which feel great for awhile but when the freezing comes out Wow!!!!!the pain was terrible.To this day,I can't lift my right arm straight above my head.It's amazing what we did in our youger years comes back to haunt us later.

I was lucky. Had a great therapist who scared the fool out me early that I was not going to get my motion back so I spent hours each day stetching with that silly pulley system. I have got all my motion back now except maybe a little in the 3/4 slot. But expect that to come around. Strength wise around 50% of what my other arm can do. Still hurts but that is also improving.

Hey! I just rotator cuff surgery on April 11. Have a few more days left in my sling, but started PT a week out of surgery. Your comment about the pulley made me laugh, since I've been doing that 3 times a day myself. Just passive motion first 6 weeks...start moving on y own next 6 weeks....then start adding weights after that. The worst part has been sleeping only on my back these past weeks!

How far out are you post-surgery?

Jan 6 was date of operation.

So compared to you pretty far out. I can identify with the sleeping on back. I had a terrible time every night finding a position to sleep in with that sling on. And I have a cat that only weighs about 6 pounds but she always slept laying on my right shoulder. Just could not get her to compromise and go to the left shoulder. Would wake up hurting and have to push her off the shoulder. Have a second cat that liked to snuggle in under the right arm. She was up one night trying to claim her spot and I kept pushing her to the left. Finally she got fed up and just stood there and gave me a few good loud hisses.

I finally settled on a pillow to my right to prop my elbow on when I was on my back and one on my left for when I turned on my left side so my right arm could rest on it and not tug at the shoulder. Also found cinching the sling up tight with my elbow bent kept it more comfortable.

Hit that pulley hard. It will be even more difficult to get that range of motion back once you start active use and strengthening. My therapist had to delay my strengthening a week because I got behind on stretching it out. She told me that however far I was able to get prior to beginning the strengthening exercises was as far as I would ever get. That got my attention and I took a week off work and spent 8 hours a day alternating between stretching and ice packs.
