I like your list, though I would have Trammell a little higher and Ripken a little lower.

Ernie Banks spent roughly 9 years of his 19 MLB years as a SS. Roughly the same amount of time/game split that Robin Yount did between SS/OF. Banks should be considered a SS, in my book, as he won his two MVPs while at that position.

1 Ernie Banks
2 Derek Jeter
3 Cal Ripken
4 Alex Rodriguez
5 Robin Yount
6 Ozzie Smith
7 Barry Larkin
8 Luis Aparicio
9 Alan Trammell
10 Miguel Tejada
11 Omar Vizquel - just as good with the glove as Ozzie Smith, but not quite the hitter or showman. Definitely worthy of HOF consideration while Tejada will get any such consideration due to PEDs.

1. Cal Ripken
2. Derek Jeter
3. Robin Yount
4. Barry Larkin
5. Omar Vizquel
6. Ozzie Smith
7. Miguel Tejada
8. Ernie Banks
9. Luis Aparicio
10. Alan Trammell
Note: ARod would have been 2, but I'm an unabashed roids snob. If Tulo stays healthy, he's on his way to #1

You're absolutely right about Banks playing 9 years at shortstop. That's why I included him on my list. When I said he "wasn't really a shortstop," I meant that he wasn't particularly good at it defensively; it wasn't his true position. All the other shortstops on my list, even Tejada, were solid defensively, so he didn't make it as high on my list as on yours.

Also, Vizquel's battings stats were better than Smith's, so I'm curious why you consider Ozzie the better hitter. If you have more advanced stats showing he was, please share them.

I'd also go with Ozzie(And Jeter) players who contributed much more than stats to winning.

Seabiscuit
American Beauty
Dark Knight
Blood Diamond
V For Vendetta
There Will Be Blood
Gangs of NY
Hangover
No Country For Old Men
Silver Linings Playbook

And the Matrix, LOTR and Harry Potter series
