1. Mike Trout, LAA--Arguably the most gifted player of my lifetime, could finish career as greatest of millennium.
2. Andrew McCutchen--PIT. If it weren't for Trout and Pit's small market, McCutchen would be a BB and cultural star.
3. Carlos Gomez, MIL--Best defensive shortstop today, the improvement of his offensive game has been stunning.
4. Adam Jones, BLT--Another defensive whiz could be MVP caliber if he cut down strikeouts.
5. Carlos Gonzalez, COL--A better LF, he's still a five-tool star and possibly Billy Beane's biggest mistake.
6. Marcell Ozuna--MIA--Still working on his defense, but he's a developing offensive powerhouse.
7. Jacoby Ellsbury--NYY--Still a Venus de Milo, but his four other tools are all solid.
8. Denard Span--WAS--Classic leadoff man, speedy CF fits in beautifully with WAS's big corners.
9. Adam Eaton--CWS--Another classic lead-off man should become better all-around player than Span.
10. Lorenzo Cain, KC--Solid hitter, excellent defender and runner needs to work on getting on base.

1. This is Spinal Tap--Brilliant mockumentary uncannily accurate about Heavy Metal/Rock lifestyle
2. Monty Python's Holy Grail--Overquoted to death, but still remarkably funny.
3. Animal House--Belushi's shining moment and greatest college comedy ever.
4. Office Space--Mike Judge's classic about the travails of modern working life still resonates.
5. Trading Places--Eddie Murphy's funniest film, which says a lot.
6. 48 Hours--Eddie Murphy's 2nd funniest and the best buddy movie ever.
7. The Big Lebowski--Not quite a comedy, but one of the most brilliant comic films ever.
8. There's Something About Mary--Farrelly Bros. farce is as funny as it is cleverly vulgar.
9. Caddyshack--Bill Murray's early heyday with Rodney Dangerfield at his best.
10. Vacation--Chevy Chase's best is the greatest comic road film ever. John Hughes' first classic.

CF's nice list, Lagares is right there though, He's better than Ozuna defensively, but even this Mets fan will admit his bat still needs some work.

As for comedies, I like your list though I have not seen Office Space or Lebowski, and I am not a big fan of Vacation, I though Modern Problems and Fletch were better Chevy Chase films.

Instead of a top 10, I'll just list a few of my favorites, a couple of which are MUCH older than the ones you posted:

What's up Doc a very young Barbra Streisand stars in this farcical comedy.

Who's Minding the Store Jerry Lewis comedy that made my laugh so hard my stomach hurt the next day.

History of the World part 1 Where's the love for Mel Brooks? Love almost all his films, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, Young Frankenstein, Space Balls, but History of the World my favorite, " It's good to be the King" just wanna know where's part 2??

Airplane and the Naked Gun- Leslie Nielsen at his deadpan best. The bathroom scene in Naked Gun left the group I was seeing the film with literally rolling in the aisles laughing so hard.

Mallrats my favorite Kevin Smith film added bonus of co starring the incredibly hot Claire Forlani ( google her)

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, as a teen ager, who didn't want to be Ferris, I still shed a small tear every time that Ferrari goes flying out the back of the garage.

First off, Niners, thanks for the extensive response.

As to Cfers, Lagares is probably actually the best defensive CF right now and could rise up the list if he gets on base better. Ozuna is really a transplanted CF, but his bat-speed should make him the kind of batter pitchers fear.

We do have quite a different film list. I've never seen those three older films you've mentioned. As to Brooks, I respect his talent, but I'm not that much of an over-the-top humor guy, even though he's brilliant at it. Of the Brooks films you mentioned, I think The Producers is a masterpiece, Blazing Saddles is very funny, History is ok, and I'm not crazy about Young Frankenstein...although many are.

I also love those spoof-comedy films you mentioned. Both Airplane and The Producers got consideration for my number ten spot, and I also enjoyed Top Secret with Val Kilmer. I actually prefer Clerks--which I loved--to Mallrats, although I'm not a big fan of his other films. Ferris Bueller is definitely a gem, and since I was 17 when it came out, I definitely remember wanting to be like him...and date Mia Sara. It's funny, though. I thought he was so cool when I was younger. Now he seems like an amoral manipulator who completely used and damaged his best friend, Cameron...


P.s. I will always remember the lovely Forlani from Meet Joe Black. She's aged a bit in those Dewar's commercials, but she's still beautiful.

Surprised you haven't seen Its a MMMMM World, it's a pretty well known comedy often sited as one of the best with an incredible cast:

Try the older films, at minimum you'll at least enjoy them, but I bet you find them laugh out loud funny, which sadly is not the case with so many of today's comedies. Better yet, they're funny but not crude, family films all the way.

I've been meaning to see Big Lebowski for some time, and will get to it and Office Space as well, especially as my wife has seen Office Space and says it's funny.

Mallrats hits home with me on a lot of levels. I was a mallrat in my misbegotten youth. I had an older cousin who had a part time job on weekends overseeing an arcade in one of the local malls in my hometown, so I spent MANY a Saturday and Sunday in the mall during my highschool years playing endless arcade games (for free ), and just hanging out. Also like Brodie, I too am a huge comic book fan, so there's a lot in that film I relate to, and I love Smith's ear for realistic youth dialogue.

As for Ferris, I'll give you that he's a manipulator of the highest order, but I think he forced Cameron off a path that would have lead to an unhappy if safe life and forced him to face his life more head on and not be a carpet for everyone around him, Ferris included.

As for Forlani's Dewar's commercials, I was disappointed they weren't airing during this season's Sons of Anarchy, I enjoyed watching them almost as much as the show. Women with accents have always been a weak spot, Forlani, Kate Beckinsale, hell, I even think Angelina Jolie is hotter in the Tomb Raider films because of her accent.
