Question about OF Errors

PostMon Nov 16, 2015 9:50 am

I have Adam Jones in CF (CF 1(-4)e6) and 3 weeks into the season he has made 6 errors. My Sim Fielding page says that he's had 40 X chances and made 37 outs. This tells me that he's made at least 3 throwing errors. Is this a correct assumption, and if so, how does this occur?

Throwing errors is a correct assumption. In the super-advanced maximum rules--when a runner attempts to take an extra base the throw is subject to throwing errors.

This is CD-rom version--but I think it holds in online play

Maximum rule: Realistic throwing errors
Throwing errors by outfielders can be introduced to the cutoff rule by using this option. By using them the defense will have a more difficult decision to make on the cutoff play - do you risk the chance of an error or do you have the outfielder hold the ball? If the outfielder is prone to making errors you might want to think twice before making that throw!

See the Maximum Rules page for more information.

HAL makes the decision of course in on-line play.

Throwing errors have nothing to do with the range--as the ball is already fielded at this point--errors can occur on Singles and Doubles, and on FlyB also I would think if runners on 1st & third and ball thrown to the plate.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think they are necessarily throwing errors.

When playing online with the super-advanced maximum rules, I believe that errors are not stricly restricted to X-charts, they can occur after a single (the guy bobbles with the ball).

SOM plays out the probabilities so that the number of errors, overall, are expected to be the same than with the traditional rule of looking at the X-chart.

If you post the link of your team, it would be easy to look it up.

Actually, I am wrong!! After giving it some thoughts, with the super-advanced defensive chart, errors can be combined to hits, but contrary to what I wrote, they are restricted to X-charts. So a centerfielder rated 1 would not have both since there are no hits allowed on the X-chart.

So milleram is right, in this case, errors have been generated by throwing errors (and indeed, I could confirmed this by looking at games where Jones made the errors).
