There is no reason, other than Scherzer being set to 6 innings max, that this should have happened, even with all the other settings set "wrong for keeping him in".
If Scherzer was had the 6 max box checked he's coming out after 6, otherwise---it is poor AI.
I do agree with the guys that recommend a F8 or lower setting--that will insure he stays in until he begins to tire, and usually I go with a F7 to F4 with a better (around 6M+) starter--maybe even F1 with Greinke and Arietta types.
