New Theme League with a new idea

Will this league answer the age old question: What wins in baseball? Is it Pitching, Hitting or Defense?

Here is how this league works:

80 mil, DH, 20% cap hit, Regular 2015 card set, any ballpark, divisions are East=Defense, Central=Hitting, West=Pitching.

Pitching: Your team may not own any 1 rated defenders nor may you own any hitters priced at 6 mil or higher.

Hitting: Your team may not own any 1 rated defenders nor may you own any SP priced at 5 mil or higher and RP priced at 4 mil or higher.

Defense: Your team may not own any SP priced at 5 mil or higher and RP priced at 4 mil or higher nor may you own any DH priced at 6 mil or higher. You must select one of the four lowest priced 1 rated defenders at each position with the exception of the outfield. Here are your four choices at each position:

C: Posey, Martin, Perez, Molina
1b: Rizzo, Hosmer, Belt, Gonzalez
2b: Lemahieu, Philips, Espinosa, Goins
ss: Hechevarria, Iglesias, Simmons, Escobar
3b: Machado, Arenado, Longoria, Beltre
LF: Taylor, Yelich, Blanco, Gardner
CF: Hamilton, Dyson, Pillar, Jones
RF: Cain, Inciarte, Kiermaier, Marisnik

When you sign up choose P, H, or D and place next to your name. I will take the last one available.

Not sure this will settle which is best.
East will be loaded with teams built on defense competing against other teams built on defense.
What does winning the East prove? It proves you are the best at building a defense based team. But it does not prove that defense is a better way to build a winning team than hitting.

Ditto for the other divisions.

If you really want to settle the age old question you need .....
one defense team in each division.
one pitching team in each division.
one hitting team in each division.

Hmmm, would need a 4th team. How about one built on speed. Can only use A or higher rated stealers with 17 running rating. Make a concession for catcher since speed options are more limited. And I would propose the hitting team not be allowed to have any players with run ratings of 17. The hitting team probably should not be allowed to have any 2 rated fielders either. I could build a pretty good fielding team with 2 range ratings everywhere. Might also want to consider error ratings for limitations. After all if I can pick up a 2e0 fielder I am about as good as any team fielding wise at that position.

Pitching and defense usually go together so they should be able to sign 2 fielders but not 1 rated fielders.

With this or a variation of it you would have one of each of you team types in each division so the end result might have more meaning.

I really didn't post this to say that we will prove what is the best way to build a team. Obviously, a combination of all three is the best way. It was just an idea to try out a new theme. As for mixing the teams up, I debated that thought but decided to stick with like teams in like divisions. I can be talked into changing that aspect if needed.
