ratings guide question

Man, every day older I feel like I am forgetting something new.

Can someone please remind me what the * next to the ballpark HR numbers or the w in the ratings guide means? This is only my second year with the guide, and I seem to remember figuring it out last year when I looked at the cards, but can't remember now what it was and with the new cards not out yet, I got nothing.

This is from the readme file that comes with the guide:

BP = Ballpark homerun chances (a "w" indicates weak power with no ballpark homer chances; an "*" indicates the player has no ballpark single chances - all players without an "*" have five single chances.
