Hello,
I am fairly new to the keeper league community. But, I am hooked. The 2024 season appears to be a great spot to start off new league. Amazing young talent in pitching and hitting. With this post, I am hoping to gauge the interest in a new league. Also, I am really interested in what you like and dislike with your other leagues so we can build something special.
The ideas I have so far is:
1. Two seasons with each set. A spring and fall season.
2. A league with teams connected to real teams. I like the thought of having a team linked to two MLB teams. Like one AL team and one NL team with which the owner could select two or three players from each team to build their franchise with but not losing players that change leagues in the offseason.
3. An initial draft of 35-40 players and a small five round draft of non carded prospects and players just without cards (like seasons lost to injuries). This prospect draft would be just holding the rights to the player until the next card set. The prospect players would be limited to non carded players.
4. A mid season draft between the two seasons allowing teams to release as many players as they want without restrictions and have a free agent pool draft.
5. Likely, the league could have an odd number of teams if all teams are selected(15). Deciding on number of teams and league divisions can be discussed freely.
6. I would like to have something unique to the league. Like using the advanced injury rules or something similar.
7. An idea for something else could be a 24-28 player roster with the ability to use your remaining as a taxi squad. With your taxi squad you would be able to use players freely without drop penalties. But, you would be limited to players on your 35-40 roster.
8. Trading players and draft picks is great. You would need to rebalance your roster before the next season.
