SOM needs to find a way to curtail ridiculous overuse!!

Overuse like this minor example really needs to be controlled somehow. IMO it just takes away from the game.....

I have no problem with it either way, but if for instance Balfour was limited to 60 innings, would his price be 1.9M?

The online game has been around for over ten years.

The limits you want have never been part of this version of the game. Play off the CD is that's what you want.

I agree with Steve and Geekor. For what it is it has been that way since day one. Everyone has the same advantage/disadvantage. This online game is the best out there and it has improved vastly since the initial leagues started rolling off the TSN website in 2001. Not sure how many can remember how primitive the game seemed back then compared to now. Improvements are always being made!

I am new this year so I have no memory of past online---but I agree over usage is ridiculous---When I played with actual people back in the 60s, 70s, we never would have allowed these usage rules--we used AB+BB +10% max with 125 possible plate appearances for all---(meaning a 50AB player could go to 125)

Over usage rules do only take away from the game in my opinion. It took me a couple of teams to understand low use players means nothing here--I do agree it is fair to all, but that type of player over usage should be restricted to the unleashed leagues.

What is the unleashed league for anyway??--adding roughly 10 players that are just a bit more ridiculous is all right now.

Also I am tired of arguing about the price of a player when a decent change is suggested--he still cost the same to everyone so isn't that fair also??

You guys are probably right! Maybe because I am just 6 months into the online game and played the table version for so long I just need to go with the flow!!!

I am not saying it is not a issue but maybe it is one that just has not been worked on or a way to make it work correctly has not been discovered yet. They are always improving the game so it may be something that we will see fixed!

I've suggested before, as have others, about a league that limits usage like the F2F crowd does. TSN never wanted to have anything to do with it, and that turned a lot of SOM baseball guys away from the online version.

Now that SOM has taken over, I keep hoping they will make that an option.

And you don't need to do another set of pricing. Just apply a blanket % off based on the usage from their current price, and perhaps a small bump up for the guys who won't change.

i.e. you have 100 ab guy who is currently prices at 7 million. Usage at 110% = (110/600) * 7 mil = 1.28 mil.

Oversimplified, but I'm sure the math guys could figure out a slightly better version. There would be no need for any extra pricing being done, just an algorithm run on the current pricing.

And just make the players, once they've reached their innings/ab limit, injured till the end of the season, so they cannot play.

Obviously limits would be removed for the playoffs.

I think the comment above by geekor makes the most sense to me--but with one little tweek. The way we used to enforce the 10% rule was this---If the player goes over 110% usage prorated for games played he would be ineligible to start until he fell below 110% (he could still pinch hit)

example ==a player with 400 plate appearances has 221 plate appearances after game 80 played--he would be ineligible to start game 81 as he was over 400 + 10% prorated----440/162 * 81=220----for game 82 it would be 440/162 * 82 or 222.7 so he would be eligible to start again that game even if he had pinch hit (for only 1 Plate appearance) in game 82.

If injuries forced a player that was over the 110% to start that was OK if no other eligible players at that position--When the injured player got back that player may have to sit awhile though.

I'm glad you didn't select my team. I understand what you're saying, but why shouldn't I expect my most expensive pitcher to pitch the most innings? The game as we play it here is not meant to replicate actual MLB statistics. As geekor said, you can use the Cd to replay the season.
