First, thanks for the reply about Drew at SS. Also, I really like the phrase, "Bumper Crop", it's an oldie but a goodie.

Just had a 24-team league draft. Simmons still on the shelf untouched.

It is always a bummer when players just can't fit into the game. Every year their seams to be 2 or 3 guys that no one can draft because they just cost too much for what they do. This year as I said I don't like Davis because his average stinks and you pay for a 1 at 1B and how much do you want to pay for that along with a .286BA and a guy that hits like a $1MIL player against LHP.
I just picked up Phillips at 2B in a trade because I needed a 2B in a theme league. I told the guy he stinks and he does because like Simmons he is a DP machine. They should factor that as much as they do the 1 range. So he can turn a DP but will he ground into more?

Davis is actually a 2 range at 1B, but he has a nice low erating at e6 - which is actually more important at 1b in my thinking. But I agree completely with your comment that good defence at 1b generally seems to be over-priced by strat. Having said that, a couple of people (SteveF, geekor) accurately predicted his salary, which I thought showed some great instincts for what strat does with salaries!

Speaking of 1B what do you guys think of Eric Hosmer? He can do a little bit of everything. He is a good fielder, .300 hitter, has speed for a first baseman, can hit lefties and righties and he will hit in any park.

The problem for me is I have a phobia of guys with high negative clutch ratings and high gb(a) chances.

Have you ever seen so many 1s at SS? I think this season features more 1s at SS than the entire decade of the 1960s and 1970s. Fielding in general is better than ever.

There are so many good (and cheap) relief pitchers!

I really like this return to 1980s baseball. The steroid era was bunk.

What general or specific observations have you fellas made?

I haven't seen anyone take Simmons at SS yet. He is a double play machine on offense.

Yea...he can't bat second...19 chances DP vs LH / 22 vs RH.....thats a lot

For 5+million I want a better 8-hole hitter.
