Like Keyzick (and Scumby), I'll make changes if I didn't read the league closely enough, or if my team isn't functioning as I envisioned. I'll also do so if a better player becomes available, or if I feel an available player is a better fit against my league.
Since I've been playing on-line since the beginning, I had forgotten if I had made more or less roster changes on my successful teams in the past. A quick scan showed many of my winning teams in
every league had roster changes:

Champs, 90 wins, 12 moves:
http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1143011To skip to the nearer present, this pattern of making roster moves to help my teams succeed continued into the 10's:
2010 team--
Champs, 88 wins, 4 moves:
http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/3644792011 team--
Champs, 91 wins, 9 moves:

http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/11096092013 team--92 wins, 6 moves:
http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1379048So, like a lot of managers, I not only didn't damage my teams by making roster moves, I helped them win by doing so. I respectively made 15, 12, and 9 moves in
three of my championship teams above. So, not only can roster moves help a team win, numerous moves can do so as well. I certainly wouldn't advocate making moves for the sake of making them. I would also advise prudence in making them. However, my experience (as shown above), and the experience of other successful managers on this thread, shows roster moves can be a helpful, if not vital, element in a team's success.
