+5 FRANCHISE LEAGUE II-PLAYER DRAFT !!

sorry for all the posts, just woke up from night shift. so this is the official response to the trade of arenado by nymets99.

either the trade is rescinded or nymets99 must reduce the cost of one of their other picks-Goldschmidt or Carpenter. as soon as the Carpenter pick was made he was over the 25 million fa budget. so that pick should not have been made (it was a proxy pick and I didn't realize he was over at the time.) therefore that pick should not have been made. so NYMETS99 needs to announce his plan.

I am sorry about holding this up - I am trying to rework this with jeep to get me under the cap or im going to rescind the arenado pick - either way he is not going to be on my roster as I really want carpenter instead

you cannot drop a non-franchise player and swap for a new non-franchise player in the fa pool. the 60 non-franchise players selected never changes.

So to clarify for me - the 5 players I draft are with me for the season unless I trade them? If one is injured or is not working out, I can't drop him and pick up another player from the FA pool as long as I stay under $25m? And there are no drop/adds in preseason unless its one of my actual franchise players? I had initially figured the 5 players could be dropped/added as long as we were within $25m....but that isn't how I read the quote above. I just want to be sure I think about that while drafting, if I can't adjust in preseason with those 5 players.

u own all of your franchise players with exclusive rights whether they are on your active roster or not. they are essentially your minor league system to call up, send down or trade.

u draft 5 fa's that do not total more than 25 million. u can trade these players if u so desire for other fa's or other franchise owned players.

the total pool of players available for the whole league is the 12 franchises plus the 60 selected free agents. the rest of the free agent pool is unavailable after the draft.

the red sox signed Sandoval Ramirez and Castillo last year and they sucked. they were stuck with them. could not trade those contracts. had to use their system (which was actually very good and good for them).

if u make a lot of trades you may end up with other teams drafted fa's and therefore u may end up with more that 5 drafted fa's. but that does not matter. u can exceed the 25 million fa cap if they are players that you acquire through trade. but in the 5 round draft your 5 selected fa's that u drafted cannot exceed 25 million.

this ran so much smoother last time.
