Yeah I was very aware of Bannister's tendency to allow the "long fly".

I guess it boils down to, Carlton allows a ton of hits, because his card allows a ton of hits, although in "real" life he did not allow a ton of hits. So there just happens to be a frisson of "Larry Gura" in there.

I am impressed by you guys' ability to break these cards down though.

I mean, I know the dice odds, but those are some impressively deep dives.

Philly had a pretty good defense that year and that might explain why there are more hits than you would expect on his card. So his card would be adjusted to reflect more hits to account for a better than average defense. (If I understand how Strat does these things, which I only have a cursory understanding of.) In other words, to recreate Carlton's season, more hits have to put on his 78 chances because there are less on the defense's 30 chances.
