This is a keeper, so I hope everyone plans on being around for more than 1 or 2 years. Another is the divisional alignment. The way the rule reads is that after the first seasons start, the divisions are: the best four records are in one division, the next best are in a division and the worst four are in a division. The problem is that the 3rd and 4th best teams are often left out of the playoffs and the 9th or 10th best teams would be in the playoffs, i.e. winner of the division with the 9th through the 12th best teams. Just a vote for random divisions each season.
Not that I'm in the league, but as someone who helped write alot of these rules, the reason it was set up that way was so there would be a change in the playoffs from season to season within one card set. Having the 4 playoff teams from season one all be in the same division in season 2 guarantees that at least 2 of the payoff teams will be different from season to season therefore giving some of the weaker teams a playoff shot and hoepfully keeping their interest in season 2.
Not that you need to keep it that way, just giving the reationale for why the rules were written the way they were. I've alwasy felt the biggest problem facing a keeper is maintaining interest for the teams not doing as well, so by allowing for those teams to see a pontential reward by way of possibly making the playoffs, it kept interest through the second season and hopefully cut down on inactive owners and or drop outs.
Just my 2 cents.
These are basically the two rationales for two of the ways keepers do the divisions. When I ran a few keepers we did the divisions randomly and I've been in keepers (including Ninersphan's) that do it best records in one division, worse records in one division. I am fine with the commish saying one way, but if we do could do a quick vote, that would be great and get everyone to check in at the same time. I won't start the vote unless the commish says its ok.
