Yep, post count is from the SOM board only. They changed board providers when they switched, no history was converted. Heck we're still waiting for Manager ratings LOL.

Here's a link to the members page that shows the info:

Was hoping I'd at least break into the top 50, didn't quite make it, but will gladly take the die hard label!

That hostile rant is Coyote's third personal attack on me, without my having said anything rude to him at all. He is the one who "hijacked" this thread with his 8:06 AM post, not I. Anyone can confirm those facts on this very thread. I will succinctly respond with this:

1. I have only tried to discuss the subject of the forum thread, nothing else. I have been completely polite while doing so.
2. For some reason, Bombers, Coyote (4 times) and others have tried to make me, not the thread subject, the subject.
That is hijacking and trolling, which is why he knew I would correctly say so.
3. I suggest everyone return from such trolling and discuss the thread topic. That is what the SOM forum is for.
4. If people don't want conflicts on the forum, I suggest they stop instigating them and talk about SOM and baseball.

I would like to thank those who actually politely contributed to this thread. I, myself, am done with it.

P.s. Robert Vozza, it's good to see you contributing again.

I'd like to delicately join in the topic being discussed and also suggest that disagreeing with a particular post is not necessarily a personal attack. I rarely make any contact with SOM staff, so I'll be curious to see a reply to the following:

Hello,

In the attached document which shows upcoming games in the “Learning Curve” league, the first game shows my opponent having Clippard, a relief pitcher, starting the game. I didn’t know that this was possible! Their team has one starter injured, but it would be more realistic to have another starter pushed into this role, don’t you think?

More importantly, and in light of the recent problems with game recap stories, I’d like to ask why the game replay has had the same format since its inception. I’m talking specifically of the primitive view and action of the program itself –

Welcome to the Strat-O-Matic Game Replay (BETA)

I enjoy playing Strat-o-matic online, and likely will continue to. Doesn’t it seem like the game would be more attractive to customers if you improved the “look” of it, and got out of beta mode? Beta infers testing to me, and it seems like we’ve been testing long enough.

Regards,

----- ------

It seems like a redesign wouldn't be asking too much. I would hope that SOM would note they have some very loyal fans and add seasons, features, etc. to keep us/them coming back for more, but I can't expect them to be any different than other businesses/corporations that we deal with in today's climate. I don't feel "rewarded" by many businesses I interact with - and as Valen mentioned big corporations offer nothing for customer loyalty. Commiecast is abysmal in their billing practices, and while Veribadzone may have the best signal in my area, cost is ridiculous!

So - I'd love a freebie anytime, but I'd prefer an upgrade to the product now and then. That'd make it easier to recommend SOM to others, too.

Let us know if you hear back...would love to hear what they have to say. I wouldn't expect any freebies from the recent delay, but I also think the business model for online companies tends to be more interactive, as well as rewarding to loyal customers (ie...diff from Comcast and Verizon). SOM doesn't seem to care (yeah, I know I'm beating a dead horse)

The RP starting isn't an issue of realism, it's a form of penalty for the injury -- though owners rarely try to avoid it by having an extra starter on the roster.

Clowntime, could all 5 starters have been fatigued at the same time??

Chuck, what was your opponents rotation, all SP/RP? Were there back to back extra inning games or one very long game before the Clippard start that put the starters in for relief????

Watch how fast Aaron Sanchez tires here. This is not the normal tiring pattern of an R2

Did he pitch the game before? Has this been happening all season?

He didn't pitch the game before. This is only the 8th game of the season, and I haven't used Sanchez before. It had not happened before last night though. I the first series of the season he pitched back to back outings of 4 innings and 3 1/3 innings effectively
It feels to me like something is clearly wrong, and based on recent events seems like a possible glitch :(

Here's the game - sweet justice, but it took all 9 innings, dammit!

Here's the response I got from SOM - but the more significant question, about play-by-play, wasn't answered (which I pointed out in response).

Hi Chuck,

When an injury occurs to a starting pitcher and there are no other starters eligible to pitch (they will all be tired since the team only has 5 starters), the game chooses a reliever to pitch instead. Unless the other team picks up a starting pitcher, which they're not able to do at this point in the season in your league, the reliever will show as the scheduled starter. This is something the game chooses automatically, the other manager cannot choose this pitcher themselves.

Sincerely,
Strat-O-Matic Baseball Online

I suppose there's merit in that "rule" - my opponent had 5 non-* starters in his rotation. It's a rare item. I'm much more interested in seeing the game replay join us in the 21st century. If I get a response, which I hope I will, I'll share it here.

Chuck G.

(Hi Rob - a decent season in the keeper league heals all wounds!)
