Frank - you need to stop using ESPN ranger factor as it's outdated and SOM does not use that in determining their range ratings. The D-war ESPN puts up is even a better measure, though it's very rough, but really if you want to use the same data as SOM you need to look at Fangraphs advanced, DRS, and Fielding Bible.
Hveed - what you wrote about Eaton being penalized by the team runs allowed is 100% on target. SOM's primary concern is that the replays come out perfect, or nearly so. If they tested Eaton as a 3 but the team's runs allowed did not get to where it was this year (extrememly bad) then they could very easily move him to a 4 to get the replay numbers right. And the Fangraphs numbers were off the charts bad for a guy with his rep. The Inside Edge numbers spell this out - he only made 33% of "Likely" plays (where an avg CF would make 60-90% of those) and he made just 20% of "Even" plays, where an avg CF would make 40-60% of those plays. If an average CF is a 3 range, then clearly he deserved a 4 based on those #s.
