2013 MLB Predictions

Many believe that without Mickey Calloway, who brought Ulbaldo Jimenez back from being on the brink, Jimenez could struggle mightily. I agree that Baltimore does have great defense and good bats, so maybe I was wrong to count them out so early. Never the less, like many players Jimenez is a gamble, I would not be surprised if he wins 16 games but I would also not be that surprised if his E.R.A. goes back above 5.00.

i'm a Ubaldo fan (I have him on 2 keeper leagues) so I think (hope) he's found himself. That one season he had with the Rockies was sick!

Well, I obviously agree with you about Ubaldo Jimenez, Steve, and (as a fellow Nl West fan) I definitely remember that amazing year he had for the Rockies.

Well, recent developments have somewhat amended my previously considerable faith in Detroit. I had already suspected Dombrowski had been going a bit daft with the Fister trade, but I gave him the deserved benefit of the doubt that he was moving around money for Scherzer and saw something others didn't see in Robbie Ross. However, trading Lombardozzi (one of the key players in the trade) for a 37-year-old Alex Gonzalez--who only played 3 games at shortstop last year--and making him the Tigers starting shortstop is delusional.

I still see Detroit winning the division, but if they truly stick with Gonzalez as their starting shortstop, they will not be the clear leaders-of-the-pack I had previously considered them to be.

Maybe they should activate Omar Vizquel, he's only 9 years older than Gonzalez and probably still a better fielder

This opens the door for the Cleveland Indians to win the division. The Indians won 92 games last year, I think Detroit won 93. Detroit got worse, Cleveland will be better!

Tigers are just waiting until June to sign Stephen Drew. All will be better after that.

And while losing Iglesias will hurt, Dombrowski will certainly address the shortstop issue--as he did when Peralta was suspended--as there are already rumors of Drew heading their way.

Yeah, I mentioned Drew in an earlier post in the forum thread, and I hope--for the sake of my prediction's success --that it's true. However, waiting until June to sign Drew to avoid losing a late round first round draft pick could be a mistake. Having Drew for the full year..and having been able to keep Lombardozzi..would be worth more than that pick, since it would give them a substantially better shot at the series in what looks like Scherzer's last year with the Tigers.
